TV & Film The TV Room

Started watching a new Amazon show called "On Call." It's a cop show taking place in Long Beach, CA. It's really "gritty" and realistic as it shifts perspectives to the cop's body cams. Erik LaSalle from ER is in it and so is Lori Laughlin. Two episodes in and I am hooked already.

We finished The Night Agent last night and I thought it was much better than the first series. Then we watched the new episode of Dexter Original Sin.

Countdown to Christmas ended on Sunday. I cannot believe I have resorted to watching leave it to Beaver, my three sons, and Donna Reed. 🤦🏻‍♀️
Actually, I'm totally enjoying Donna Reed, Leave it to Beaver and That Girl, lol. I found them on peacock and Amazon prime so I'm going to start watching in order from season 1!

I am really hooked on the show "On Call" though "enjoying" is not exactly how I would describe it. It is so realistic, it's like you are right there with the officers and there's a lot of really "bad" stuff happening. It is very interesting seeing Lori Loughlin playing a tough woman police officer who is the boss of the patrol cops featured. I didn't recognize her until I looked up the cast. She hasn't been on TV in decades I don't think. Other than that college scandal thing.

We now have started The Good Wife. There are a lot of episodes to get through!
I loved that show when it was on. Maybe I'll start watching it again.

I found Leave it to Beaver on Peacock so I started that from the beginning. I think there are six seasons, 38-39 episodes per season! Back when tv was free and they didn't cheat us out of episodes like they do now lol.

we haven't watched anything but youtube in a while - between the political and the UAP and all the usual cooking shows and, of course, the kittens/cats/dog shorts it doesn't leave time for anything else

If I had cable, I'm afraid I'd be watching nothing except the original "Lost In Space" (ohhh, the pain...), "Star Trek", "Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea" (which had a LOT of sci-fi elements- including, but not limited to, aliens from other planets), "Dark Shadows", "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.", "The Wild Wild West"... and whatever new similar nonsense programs that have come out since before TV went digital. Even though I avoided alcohol and drugs, sometimes it surprises me that I still have most of my brain cells left.

I barely remember Donna Reed and Leave It To Beaver, but my family always watched "That Girl". Marlo Thomas was good in that. Pet videos are ridiculously addictive!

We have been watching Arrested Development recently. A bit old now, but funny!

Ooh, I'd love to watch some good sci-fi. I don't think they make proper sci-fi any more these days, we have to go back to the classics.

I don't know if "Lost In Space" would be considered "good" :p- it soon became a comedy (although there's nothing wrong with that). Personally, I liked the show. One of the main characters was a robot, and over the series, his character became quite developed (I refer to the robot as "him" because he had a male-sounding voice). The robot clearly had an advanced artificial intelligence and personality- a respected theme in science fiction by Asimov and others. One later episode appeared to show that he had become something more than a machine. In another episode, something caused him to grow to a huge size, in danger of running down and "dying", with Will and Dr. Smith going inside him to effect a repair.

I loved Arrested Development! I think I have the first season on DVD. I should bust that out. When I got laid off from my newspaper job in Philly, a co-worker/friend would invite me over to watch a couple of episodes to cheer me up. So I ended up buying the first season. :D

We were going to watch The Recruit, but we realised we had seen it before as I remembered the Taylor Swift bit at the end! We started the second season.

I am doing paramount + for a couple months. The new Dexter is ok, School spirits is super fun and I started the stand. I think The stand was too on the nose for the time, 2020, The vid. Man, it has some of my favorite actors. I got it because I am super hyped about Yellowjackets.

I had a free trial for paramount. I don't think it was paramount + tho. I didn't really use it but I did really enjoy School Spirits
I read both versions of the Stand and watched the TV show. Did they re-make it?

I like the new Dexter. I think the casting is so good as they look and sound so much like the original cast.

We have one more episode of The Recruit to watch.
