TV & Film The Walking Dead

Michonne rocks!

Great episode - lots of great character development (Meryle and the Governor really rising to the heights of villianry!) This is of course - setting up an epic showdown. Can't wait.

Looking forward to the multiple epic showdowns. The governor and whoever is gonna take him out, and in my head I'm imagining a Darth Vader vs. Luke Skywalker "join the darkside or die" style of standoff between Daryl and Merle lol.

Just for the sake of keeping the drama going, they should have Andrea get pregnant with the Governor's baby. Too bad it's been so long since she slept with Shane, or they could have had some more "omg whose baby is it?" cliffhangers.

Anyone else notice how many actors from The Mist were also asked to be in The Walking Dead?

Yeah. Melissa McBride, Laurie Holden, Jeffrey DeMunn. (Carol, Andrea, Dale). I noticed that the first time I saw them together on the show. I guess Darabont liked'em all, though I know DeMunn works with him all the time.

And yep, I'm looking forward to all the different showdowns on the show, as well.

My prediction is that Carl will break away from the group and will join the Governor. I think the Governor will take Carl under his wing and try to be a father like figure to him. Carl will willingly stick by the Governor because Rick's been too busy mourning and taking care of the baby to pay attention to Carl. Notice how Rick walked right past Carl last night and went straight for the baby? He didn't even look at Carl. When he found out Lori died he didn't even hug Carl. Hell nobody hugged him or consoled him. At least Daryl tried to relate to the kid.

One of the best scenes was the slipper scene!! :p

Yeah, he seems like a time bomb. Either he's repressing or sociopathic, how else can a kid stay calm under pressures like that? He shot his mother in the head for goodness sake!

I know this is a little while ago, but I was thinking about it. If I had an emergency C-section for my first child, and expected that I'd need another for any subsequent children I had, that little fact would weigh heavily on my mind way before I was nine months along. Cause like, no doctor's, right? Why would Rick encourage his wife to proceed with a pregnancy that would almost certainly kill her?

Anyway. Oh no Glenn! I'm so worried about him and Maggie!

re Carol: "she's alive!" :starshower:

re Merle: hating him now, but he may just end up siding with his old gang (and mainly brother Daryl) against the Gov when the final showdown comes.
he just better not hurt Glen and Maggie too badly! :(

re Andrea: yeah, that was pretty badass of her to leap over the wall and take that zombie out at close range with her knife.

re Michonne: best storyline going now...her showing up at the prison fence alongside the zombies with the baby formula? wow.

I don't understand why any of them were okay with her continuing the pregnancy. It's a zombie apocalypse for god's sake!

Gotta continue the human race :p Now someone else has to have a little boy, otherwise in about 20 years Glenn will be having to make a run (or a cane hobbling by that point maybe) to scavenge through zombie infested sperm banks.

Right but somebody with a better equipped birthing body can go ahead and continue the human race. Losing the mom and gaining a baby is not a good trade under the circumstances.

On the Talking Dead, they revealed that Lori knew all along that she was going to die if she gave birth, but went ahead anyway.

Why would Rick encourage his wife to proceed with a pregnancy that would almost certainly kill her?

This is true. Even if going through with it was her own decision, Rick still had a huge part in it.

Mid-season finale next week, and then they won't be back until February. Booooo.

Well poop.

I guess this is what I get. I should have just waited until the whole season was available and watched it all in one night, like I did with the other two seasons. :pout:

Poor Glenn and Maggie. :(

I think there's going to have to be a throw down between Merle and Daryl of course, but also at some point the governor is going to kick Merle to the curb, after he finds out he lied about Michonne and after he told him they couldn't take the prison but they really could have.

I think that ridiculous scientist guy will turn out to be a good guy.

And they are going to have to take that whole town down to eliminate that threat. But maybe it'll just come under new leadership eventually. We don't really see a lot of other people in the town. The governor had some other girl in his bed one day, I would think they don't all think he's sunshine and light...

Still looking forward to that...

This last episode was pretty disappointing. Nothing happened.
Seriously?? Last night's episode was sooo good!!

I loved Glenn kicking that zombie's ***. How awesome was that? I also can't wait now for Merle to die after what he did to Glenn. I'm hoping he dies, becomes a zombie and then Daryl ends up chopping his head off.

The scenes with the Governor and Maggie were super uncomfortable. Makes me disgust Andrea even more for always picking such assholes. I also can't wait till he dies.

Rick royally ****** me off last night when he messed with Michonne's bullet wound. I was waiting for Michonne to speak up about Merle looking for his brother. I'm also loving Michonne more and more each episode. The speed and the way she killed crazy cabin dude was awesome. Loved the look on the other's faces and throwing him to the zombie's for dinner...brilliant!!!!!!!

I really, really want a Michonne/Daryl hook up. Those two would be so amazing together. **** Carol. I'm all about Michonne and Daryl! They would be such a kick *** couple.

Yeah, there were some good parts.

You're right about Glenn's awesomeness, that was great.

And I'm glad they didn't shoot Glenn, giving more time for a rescue, but come on Maggie, they're going to kill you anyway and you've given away your own sister! Especially after how the governor treated her and all that it implied, I would think she wouldn't want these people anywhere near her family. :frown:

Although Glenn's reaction to it was pretty touching, how he was going to attack, then saw it was fruitless, then say Maggie in her undressed state and would have attacked anyway, looking all pained but resigned to killing the motherfuckers or dying in the attempt, but then they threatened her so he couldn't. Glenn is such a keeper.

I've wanted Merle to die since day one and now he just makes me angrier and angrier! I just hate bullies, I hate bullies so much. He's always going on about how they left him on the roof, or pointed a gun at him, like he hasn't been a bad guy the whole time! I get so frustrated when bullies attack and then get all indignant when the people they attack fight back.

Andrea... I wanted to like her when she became a badass fighter, even though she was a moron throughout her learning process, but she's been a moron throughout. She just doesn't think.

When Rick clumsily tried to force the information out of Michonne I thought that seemed unnatural and forced. Didn't seem fitting with his character.

I'd like to know more about Michonne. We kind of know the other characters and how they came to be survivors in this crazy world, but I want to know who her pets are, what she was before, why she's proficient with a sword...

The guy in the cabin thing made zero sense though. There's is random somehow safe cabin less than a mile from the town and they never noticed it before? Never checked it out? Guy has been living there for over a year and doesn't know what walkers are? It was all very convenient to have some crazy ****** as walker bait for no reason.

The whole town doesn't make sense. Why doesn't the governor want to recruit these people? He must want some people, to replace the ones that die (we've seen at five from the town die lately, fighting men, where does he get more fighting men?) if he kills everyone he finds, how does he get more people to rule over?

That was messed up when Rick squeezed that wound. I was expecting Michonne to raise up, especially being threatened with not being able to leave again. Although I love the chick Michonne was also being an *** not giving some sort of name and telling Rick she didn't ask them to help her

The Glenn and Maggie scene was uncomfortable but they performed it so well.

kazy, you are so right about the cabin man. Disappointing. The idea in showing up with walkers swarming, impale him in his own house after his only companion left had passed away, then feed him to walkers followed by cutting to a gory scene to make up for the weakness of the previous scene. Felt cheap.

Glenn's scene with the walker

Also wasn't a fan of the scene with prostate guy turning :brood: but to be fair I hate Andrea and I understand it helps with "the Dr's" character development. :hmm:

I agree. Michonne is super awesome, and I understand that she has a hard time trusting people, but she must know that these are Andrea's former people, right? And nobody's going to get anywhere by refusing to give an inch. She did go to the prison, and they saved her, I think that she could have at least dropped Andrea's name. She also keeps looking at Daryl pretty seriously, does she realize he must be Merle's brother?

I have to say in my opinion the acting thus far this season is really good. These are difficult scenarios and everybody is doing a great job at keeping the reality level high. It's gut wrenchingly good. I can't remember specifics at the moment - but I recall last season there were some moments where a few characters overdid the drama to the point where it became phony. They are selling it, this season - I'm all in.

I was a little confused by Michonne's not just saying "I've got the formula your people were out looking for - you may want to let me in and hear what I have to say." I get her mis-trust of everyone but she had already made the calculation that Maggie and Glenn were decent enough people - otherwise why even venture to the seek out the prison? And Rick grabbing her wound felt a little out of character for him - nobody had given enough information about anything at that point to make the determination that she was holding anything back. Though I guess - one could surmise that when tensions are this high all the rationale goes out the window...still - that is not going to sit well. I wouldn't have wanted to burn that bridge with someone who handles a sword like Michonne!

The paranoid hermit scene - yeah - weak. Intense - but the premise was frail.

I just LOVE how the writers are setting this up - with all of the intertwined character storylines. Meryle's loyalty will be challenged - his brother or the governor. He could break from the governor - at which point the plot could really take some twists and turns. I think the fact that Michonne is alive plays Meryle's hand - once the gov sees she is alive - bam. And then there are all the complexities of the group having to deal with Meryle and Daryl. What a hotbed of testosterone! When Andrea finally sees the light - will it be too late for her? I've grown to like her - despite her careening off unknowingly to the dark side.

Great scene with Carol and the baby - so much communicated in so few words. Moving.
