The 29-year-old vegetarian at first insulted the young men and women, then threatened them with a knife. He then slapped the two men who were eating the meat around the head.

This was when it became too much for the young group, who then got off the train at Bad Endorf and reported the incident to the police.

This made me laugh even though it probably shouldn't have.

Good point. And let's not forget that Hitler dabbled in vegetarianism for a while!

I was half-joking here, but if I had written the story, it would have read: "German man [in large caps], who happened to be a vegetarian [in very small print], went berserk on a train."

Albert Speer, who was at one time Hitler's closest friend, in his Playboy interview said Hitler was a vegetarian--no ifs, ands or buts. But others have contested this view.

My understanding is that he was, too, but only for a while. That way, all the witness accounts would be correct. It's the one conclusion that fits with all the data.
