Do you mean masa instead of corn meal? That's why I've never made them. I once bought masa, and did make a reasonable tamale pie, but never got around to actually smearing the dough on husks and wrapping and steaming.....I've since found parchment is a good subTamales.
I need to try making them again. I've failed a few times...I can't get the cornmeal to the right consistency...so now I'm intimidated to make them again.

Anyway, the rest of the bag went bad and I haven't seen it in stores since-I mean I haven't looked...
When I was a kid we'd sometimes buy them canned and I loved them!
I did, Tom! If I have time, I may make that later today. Right now, I'm making two batches of black bean burgers.

I would probably like them if I made them myself, where I can adjust seasonings accordingly. I cannot eat them from restaurants and it's usually because the seasonings are overpowering.I have never understood why I don't like black bean burgers! Black beans are my favourite pulses but not as a burger!![]()

I think I like black beans best when they are mixed with other beans in a salad or salsa. My daughter's MIL makes a really good salsa and she brings it to every family function. It's so good.
I often see black beans paired with sweet potatoes. I tried that a few times but didn't really see what the fuss was about. It was just ok for me but probably the issue was more with how I made them.
