I wish I liked oat milk! That does sound really good, though. Love your glass! Where did you buy the eggnog?I did it! It's not egg nog but it's good!
I purchased an oatmilk based egg nog, added half banana, a dash of rum flavoring and a dollop of whipped cream and sprinkle of cinnamon. It was definitely festive.

Big Y. It's the only brand they had. I tried stop n shop because I'm not usually a fan of oatmilk but they had no non dairy egg nog at all! I was shocked.I wish I liked oat milk! That does sound really good, though. Love your glass! Where did you buy the eggnog?
It's the slimy/oily texture that bothers me about oat milk, but I'm wondering if I can reduce that by making it myself, as I think it's just mostly oats and water.Big Y. It's the only brand they had. I’ve never noticed that. What brands have you tried? It's the slimy/oily texture that bothers me about oat milk, but I'm wondering if I can reduce that by making it myself, as I think it's just mostly oats and water.
Maybe it's a U.S. thing with the additives. I honestly don't remember the brands, but it wasn't Oatley because that was very pricy.I’ve never noticed that. What brands have you tried?
I tried making myself and it was a complete fail. It's the slimy/oily texture that bothers me about oat milk, but I'm wondering if I can reduce that by making it myself, as I think it's just mostly oats and water.
I just made some, and it's definitely not slimy. It is a tad bitey, so I'm wondering if it's the oats and the pesticide residue or my water, which I do filter. I'm wondering if organic oats will work better. It's not bad, though. I like it much better than the store-bought ones I've tried. It might do with a little sweetener. I may add some maple syrup to it the next time I try it. I'll see how it goes as I use it. I'm tempted to try a nog recipe with it.I tried making myself and it was a complete fail.
This nog does taste slimy/oily to me although I don't really like it plain as is. And maybe the banana helped to mask the texture.
I often buy Aldi brand oatmilk and don't find it slimy at all! My favorite is actually Chobani extra creamy, but I'll only get it on a good sale. It's the slimy/oily texture that bothers me about oat milk, but I'm wondering if I can reduce that by making it myself, as I think it's just mostly oats and water.
Does anyone crave a good, easy hot chocolate?! Where to find something delish with no cow's milk...? Thanks! : )I often buy Aldi brand oatmilk and don't find it slimy at all! My favorite is actually Chobani extra creamy, but I'll only get it on a good sale.
I've made it ok with really really cold water, and just pulsed like 30 seconds in the VItamix, then carefully strained. It was ok, but had a chalky/powdery taste. I had to sweeten
I couldn't find ways to use the pulp I liked
Thanks, Chryssie! I'll look for this! Also, love your Heinlein quote--SO true! : )I have purchased this brand and it's good! Publix has the basic one.

I love hot chocolate! I just make my own with almond milk, unsweetened cocoa and sugar. I put a couple of tablespoons of cocoa in a mug along with a scant tablespoon of sugar. Then I heat the almond milk to just under boiling and then slowly pour it into the mug and stir until the cocoa and sugar dissolve. I top it with vegan marshmallows sometimes, too, or add a dash of peppermint extract. It's delicious.Does anyone crave a good, easy hot chocolate?! Sounds heavenly! When my (now deceased) husband and I used to visit Italy, we found they add potato starch to their hot cocoa (cioccolato caldo) to thicken it. You had to eat it with a spoon! What a treat! I guess that would still be vegan... : )I love hot chocolate! I just make my own with almond milk, unsweetened cocoa and sugar. I make homemade sometimes too! Hot cocoa was a staple in my household growing up in the frozen North! My mother would make it for us kids all the time.I love hot chocolate! Same here, @Chryssie! There was nothing better than coming in from the cold after playing outside and having a big mug of hot chocolate with some cookies.I make homemade sometimes too! I like to keep date paste--soaked dates blended with water--a good spoon of that, and non dairy milk whisked together with one those cheap milk frothers. A tsp of vanilla is nice. Oh yeah, and cocoa powder!Does anyone crave a good, easy hot chocolate?! Where to find something delish with no cow's milk...? Thanks! : )
