What are you craving?

Do you ever blend cashews with some other non dairy milk, and add the spices you like? And dates?
While I have had egg nog I've liked, I've more been disappointed, so I do like this, with just enough rum to taste, or whatever my son might get, because I don't like those alcohols
No I never tried that with cashews. Maybe I will. I have tried to make it before with different plant based milks. And tried adding vegan cream to make it rich. It just never worked.

I think I added some instant vanilla pudding one time… Not enough to make it thick just to give it a richer taste… It was probably the closest but I still didn't really like it. Not enough to do it again.

Even without a high speed blender simmering, then a quick rinse and blending while hot makes a good creme. I also added a date for sweetness. I find blending with soy milk, or oat milk, gets rid of the nutty taste, and the nutmeg, cinnamon and ginger made me think eggnog.

I have been wanting to try making a vegan eggnog.
I could also go for some vegan Bailey's. I have a recipe somewhere, and I remember it came out pretty well.

Or maybe that is just another banana shake, lol, not sure if this would work.
To me, anything you put a banana in tastes like banana. I hate clicking on links to things called 'copycat Wendys Frosty', or non dairy chocolate ice cream and finding banana in ingredients. Lies!

I actually don't like the taste of bananas, but I love artificial banana taste, like that banana taffy :grinning:

Actually a banana shake sounds really good! With some cinnamon/nutmeg.

Try it as it could have a sort of alcohol-y taste, as it is sweet and slightly tart (the banana) I think we used to do this as kids. Sometimes you have to try a number of substitutes to see what works..

I haven't eaten bananas in almost 2 years. They tend to repeat on me and I was eating a banana a day last time. I had an issue with my arrhythmia that landed me in the ER. So now I associate bananas with the ER trip. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I'm quite sure it's psychological, but that's how my brain works. I think it's more that they bother my stomach and cause digestive issues which then irritates the vagus nerve and triggers the arrhythmia. I've been so good for the last two years that I just decided eating bananas wasn't worth it. Lol.

But it doesn't mean that I wouldn't try a banana shake every now and then. I just won't eat them that frequently again. I do miss them because I used to add half of a banana with PB2 and my vanilla protein shake and it was so good. I can picture doing this again and adding the spices to make it taste like eggnog. I'm going to do it lol.

If it upsets your stomach there could be an alternative. I actually saw one in my feed:

Easy Vegan Eggnog

And there are others:

this one has bourbon. not sure if this is desired.

Vegan Eggnog

many different ways to make it..

That Easy Vegan Eggnog I'd sub like 3-4 dates for the tofu and sugar. I find silken tofu has such an odd taste!

Yeah not sure if I would use it, but so many do so I wasnt sure. I like things like coconut milk, quite a few things can be used.

@Freesia @KLS52 I used to love to mash up a banana and mix it in milk. I still love bananas, but lately I've had to be careful of excess sugars in my diet. Maybe an occasional banana would be OK. I have a general checkup within a month, and they'll almost certainly check my HbA1c levels.

I dont eat them so much anymore. But sometimes i use half a banana if making a tray of cookies- it gives it a very slight sweetness. I dont use any other sugars or syrups or sweeteners. More of a weightloss diet thing though, not sure if that would be good for a diabetic diet or not.
