News 2016 U.S. Presidential election - the highs and lows

At this point in the Clinton - Obama race, Hillary gracefully conceded to Barack and let him get on with campaigning for the general election.

Bernie has the chance to do the same and concede with class, but instead he's acting like a spiteful and bitter old man

That's when I met Hillary, at an Obama campaign event - after she conceded, she campaigned fiercely and tirelessly for Barack. She earned my respect.

This is a really bad strategy for the Clinton campaign and her supporters. All this negative pushback against Sanders is essentially going to motivate his supporters to stay home on 11/8.

Remember, Democrats want to fall in love, not fall in line. I don't see much love going around. There is a reason why people support Sanders vs. Clinton, and to them the candidates are not interchangeable, just because they are both running as Democrats.

This opinion article expresses similar concerns to what I mentioned in my post above.

I hope that debate takes place, it's going to be a circus.

I don't think Hillary will be upset, I think she'll be watching with a bucket of popcorn like the rest of us.

Donald Trump: Illegals treated better than US veterans - BBC News
Illegal immigrants in the US often get better care than the nation's military veterans, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has said. Mr Trump did not provide any evidence for his assertion.
... His latest comments came at the annual Rolling Thunder motorcycle rally on Sunday, which was dedicated to remembering POWs and those missing in action.
"What I like about Trump is that he is one of us ..."
So a man who is worth a lot of money and never has served in the military is somehow like a military veteran? :fp:
The military has always liked dead heroes as they're not so expensive and don't make waves.

Interesting. Let's talk about it after Clinton gets officially nominated as Democratic candidate ...

I promise, I won't gloat about President Trump getting elected, because I and the rest of humanity will feel equally screwed...

So it's no secret some circles of the Republican party are deeply unhappy with Trump:
Shortly after Kristol fired off that provocative missive on Sunday, he left for Israel and has been avoiding the press, speaking only through a series of tweets taunting Trump for responding to Kristol’s Sunday tweet. Speculation had centered on 2012 Republican nominee Romney, freshman Nebraska senator Ben Sasse, and other current and former state and federal office-holders.

So basically, these Republicans (I assume neocons) are so unhappy with Trump that they want to sabotage the Republican candidate by running an independent conservative candidate and thereby split the Republican block of voters, which means Clinton will be the next US president. In other words, these Republicans/neocons prefer Clinton to Trump. I guess it remains to be seen if they will actually follow through with this initiative.

Don't for liberatarian Gary Johnson.
Do you think they'll take more votes from Trump than Clinton?

Party loyalty is no excuse. Trump is manifestly unqualified. Republicans need to stand up and say as much
"Party loyalty is no excuse. Trump is manifestly unqualified. Republicans need to stand up and say as much.
Trump’s willful ignorance, hair-trigger temperament and bigoted comments about women and minorities absolve prominent Republicans of any obligation to fall into line even if they agree with him on the issues. (In fact, on several points he seems to depart from the party’s core positions.) Party loyalty is no excuse for supporting a manifestly unqualified and possibly dangerous candidate."
WOW! That a major US newspaper goes out and says this is unheard of ... at least since W got elected :D
(and this is a piece on why the US gets the politicians it deserves - or at least those narcissistic sociopathic [bleep]holes that want to be in charge. Would a normal balanced person really want to be a politician? We get the candidates our undignified media deserve)
