News 2016 U.S. Presidential election - the highs and lows

As an interested foreigner, I would be interested to hear more about the democratic discussions :-)

So any of you Americans who are following it most likely, please consider sharing worthwile articles (like the one shared by @beancounter )

I read that Jim Webb, the moderate Democrat, has withdrawn from the Democratic primary. (He hasn't ruled out running as an independent, but as Fortune magazine reports regarding his chances as an independent, "calling that a long shot is an insult to long shots".)

Yeah, hardly anyone noticed when he announced his campaign and hardly anyone noticed when he ended his campaign, so if he runs as an independent, I don't think anyone will notice that, either. His problem is that he's a little too conservative for the Democrats and way too liberal for the Republicans.

So now Ben Carson is leading in the polls, Donald Trump is #2 and says he doesn't know why, and Hillary Clinton is now leading in Iowa thanks to her performance in front of the Benghazi witch-hunters congressional committee. JFC there isn't enough popcorn in the world to last through this election cycle.

It sounds like Jeb Bush's prospects are dwindling after the recent debate. Surprising to me that he has performed so badly, but I suppose times are changing, and it's no longer possible win the Republican nomination if you're just a run-of-the-mill neocon.

I'm reading that Clinton is taking what sounds like a clear position for gun control. To me, it sounds very unlike her to take a clear stand on anything besides what her sponsors want. She's way ahead of the the other Democratic candidates in the polls, so she must be positioning herself for the general election where the polls are not quite as favourable to her.

Hmm, to continue that line of thought, maybe muslims could wear some signs so they are more easily recognized?
A half moon (yellow maybe?) would come to mind, to be worn as a sticker or patch on your clothes...

Amy, the most interesting part of that article you shared, is that James Woods (who I really like as an actor) is obviously a Republican hating Obama and endorsing Carly Fiorina and Ted Cruz.

So far, I had thought, his portrayal of an obnoxious white supremacist and assassin of a coloured civil rights leader in the 1996 movie "Ghosts of Mississippi" had been some kind of statement to condemn such violence.

So, I am wondering now whether he might have identified with that role to a bigger extent than I had initially thought by reading his comments about it.
