What's the funniest thing someone has ever assumed you could eat or asked if you could eat?

I'm a vegetarian and someone once assumed I could eat chicken because "they aren't really animals like cows are". Another time somebody asked if I could eat bread! :joy:
Any of you have funny stories?

ps: sorry if this question has already been asked, I looked around and I couldn't find anything like it.

So many things, but gluten/wheat really ticks me off. Like why has the delusional anti gluten fad taken over plant based based? Celiac is not a very common disease
Thinking vegans are all wfpb is another one.
And then there's the fish, lots don't call them animals

Bread (because ya know, yeast, lol), potatoes (someone actually said: But they have eyes! :D), fish -- like Silva said, so many, but those stand out.
Whether or not something has eyes seems to be a thing! I've had multiple people assume I could eat oysters and clams because they don't have eyes.

My guy also thought maybe beer and wine too. Cause of the yeast and that yeast was an animal.
Same. But also, one time I had a waiter at a restaurant who thought vegan / vegetarian meant I must be into religiously inspired asceticism and therefore couldn't drink beer.

This was in France, of course. 20+ years ago.

(I've recently quit alcohol and wish I never had any, but that's a different story.)
