TV & Film Movie Lounge

I watched Please Stand By. I'm sure I have seen it before but I hadn't remembered when I started it and for the most part it was like I hadn't seen it before. This has happened with old movies - but this movie came out in 2017 so it has been maybe 6 years since I have seen it. I guess I'm getting senile.

But I enjoyed it thoroughly. The actresses all did an amazing job. IMDB gave it a 6.7 but I think it deserves at least a 7.

Thank you for this recommendation - I picked it up at the library - my honey was enthusiastic about watching it until within the first few minutes the words of Spock came out of her mouth..... lol - it was a big hit from them on and we enjoyed it very much.

I watched Milk & Serial. It is a horror film on YouTube. I didn't like it that much at all despite the good reviews.

I did like all the Star Trek stuff. And the dog, Pete. but the performances by the actresses was the best part.

We are going to look for a film to watch on Netflix tonight.
I watched the following film the other night and it was quite good.

We decided to watch Rebel Ridge and it is surprisingly good so far.

I might watch that. I have read mixed reviews of that film.

I think the main issue is that the movie is not as good as the book. Not only a common complaint but being that the book was so good, it was pretty much impossible for a movie to match the book.

Keep in mind that the book has won a lot of very prestigious awards, it also holds the record for the most weeks at #1 on the New York Times Best Seller list for hardcover fiction (124)

But the movie was no slouch either. it rates a 94% from the audience at Rotten Tomatoes. But not a high score from the critics, A 7.2 at IMDB. And I give it 2 thumbs up.

Just don't expect it to be as good as the book.

^ I will see if my library has the book. I have heard a lot about it, but never read it.

I will finish watching Rebel Ridge later as I got too tired last night.

That might be one for @Chryssie , considering Don Johnson plays the villain.

Was ok for me, but the plot had some big holes IMO.

Just saw “Knox goes away” on Prime, very nice performance (as actor and director) by Michael Keaton and others.

Aging assassin discovers he is suffering from aggressive form of dementia.

Was just looking for this book on eBay, and found an autographed version on offer in the US with a starting price of about the price of the normal hardcover edition, if anyone is interested…

I'm watching Woman of the Hour on Netflix. It is about a woman who is trying to be an actor and she gets put on a dating show and one of the contestants is a serial killer. I think that is right and it is a true story! I'm just 20 minutes in.
