I saw The Hunger Games film last night and it was well done but I didn't really enjoy all of it as the storyline is so grim and depressing.:D It was really long as well but the ending seemed quite rushed, I was looking at the time near the end thinking this can't wrap up in the next 15 minutes but it did and it was too fast compared to the rest of the film. Very good acting though.:)

The dark mood of the Hunger Games is probably my favorite thing about it, and also one of the things the media seems to frustratingly fail at depicting. If you think it's a love story (or at least exclusively a love story) or some sugary Twilight junk then do I have news for you...

I assume you're talking about Catching Fire with the incredibly length and rushed ending? Because I always felt that way, too, especially when I was reading the book for the first time. No matter; Mockingjay wraps it up. Not in a satisfactory way, IMO, but it does wrap it up.

I'm just making a point about the film as I don't know anything about the books as I haven't actually read them.:)

^ I think I didn't enjoy it as well because I had wanted to see Gravity and the person I was with wanted to see Thor :fp: so we settled on THG.:p

I thought Gravity was aaawful and didnt get the big fuss, so you may have escaped there : p

When we were watching THG they showed a trailer for Divergent. So I'm now reading that book as thought it looked interesting (and Im a sucker for anything dystopian) O M G it makes me realise how well written THG is and how much smarter and more sophisticated the storyline is even though they're aimed at the same audience. IDK what they're going to do with the film, but it's made me appreciate Hunger Games in a whole new light.

I was looking forward to the second Insidious but it didn't get very good reviews, I will probably still watch it however, given my obsession with horror films.;)

That is what worried me now as I've built it up in my head and it will probably be crap.:D

Finally someone who agrees. Gravity was so underwhelming that I'd forgotten about it already. Yawn.

The worst bit was the foetus symbolism. could it have been any more obvious. and the dialogue was so cheesy, argh. Best part of film was the frog.

I'm watching "Wisconsin Death Trip". It's a documentary-ish movie based on newspaper reports taken from a northern Wisconsin town between 1890 and 1900.

It's a great movie for those who think happily of those "simpler times".

It wasn't very good.:D I liked the way it tied in with the first film but it wasn't frightening. I did jump a couple of times but once was because there was a huge clap of thunder outside my house while I was watching. I also watched Dead Silence (also directed by James Wan) and that was poor too. I read it had a twist and I actually didn't guess what it was so that scored it a point.;)

I hope the film adaptation of Divergent ties up better than the books. I actually enjoyed the first couple, but the last book is probably better just left unread in my opinion :p

I'm also a sucker for anything dystopian or apocalyptic.

I'm going to be watching Game of Thrones season 3 tonight.I'm so far behind the current season I have no idea which one their on?

I liked the Desolation of Smaug. Very good, just a bit too long. Cinema seats are uncomfortable yknow!

Season 4, I believe. AKA, Book 3, 2nd half.

By the way, if you don't know what happens in season 3... well, it's going to be shocking.

^ Haha seriously? Good planning. The last LOTR film I saw at the cinema was the Return of the King. I remember being really desperate for a wee and kept thinking it was ending when it wasnt so didnt have a chance to go. They werent my bag so not seeing the Hobbit films.

I watched When the Wind Blows last night. Was reminded of it when watching The Snowman as it's by the same author so downloaded it. I barely remembered the film although have read the book a lot when I was younger. weird style of animation. It made me end my christmas day researching radiation poisoning haha.
