News Plant Based/Vegan

Hey guys I'm new to this website and aren't too sure if this post is okay. Anyway I want to share what I believe is such a crucial cause. I like many of you became vegan after watching a documentary or 10 on either animal ethics, health and/or the environment.

I'm posting vegan documentaries everyday with homage and great credit towards all those that made these and helped push the topic which was for long before and largely still is unknown, taboo ridiculed, seen as righteous, hippy, skinny, malnourished, extreme, obscene, weird, lonely, lettuce eaters, grass munchers, salad in the corner guys, protein deficient, difficult, fussy, hard life people, fancy, there's bread, how do you live, going off topic, avoid, tree huggers, healthy, green, militant, gourmet, plant killer, my uncle has a small farm, but they lived a good life, what about lions, energy balls, what about ants, basil, back on topic, shaggy haired, calcium less, is bread vegan?, almond milker, bird buddy, soy boy, hipster, skeleton, always sick, hommos, indie, must be rich, must be broke, superior, too much time, can you drink water?, but our ancestors, shaming, you can love and eat animals, earthling and many more!
But in the end, I would love your support if just a few of you could check it. I am and will be posting or adding daily.

I'm adding as many different language subtitles as I possibly can (have about a dozen so far). For those that speak another language or are non-native English speakers and could let me know if they are wrong or would like to help add your language, I would greatly appreciate it so so so much.

Let's get the word out that becoming a vegan really isn't that scary! Much love and please do leave feedback!

The Dairy industry has too much power, imagine calling soymilk 'soy water beverage' or something. 😝
I use Earth Balance, because it is the vegan butter that tastes most like real margarine or butter to me. Ever try Country Crock 'Vegan Butter?' It may as well be mayonnaise.

If anyone knows of margarine that does NOT contain dairy or cholecalciferol or something, I mean, let me know. At $6 a box, I would gladly trade the Earth Balance for some yummy trans-fatty acids- 🤷🏻‍♂️
I'm fine with non dairy milks being called beverages. I buy Trader Joes soy beverage and it's always been called that, it's one of few that's just beans and water
Country Crock plant based butter is actually my favorite-- esp the almond oil one which doesn't seem to be sold here anymore., I get the olive oil one. I do mostly make my own vegan mayo and use for butter. I didn't care much for Earth Balance, the yellow one at least. Used to get Smart Balance.

Have you tried Miyokos Buttah? I have not, but it seems very popular
Used to make my own with her recipe but it's messy

Smart Balance is not vegan, the source for the vitamin D is not vegan and 'natural flavors' includes dairy.

I've only tried one kind of the Country Crocks, the regular white one, and just thought it was too oily and flavorless. Haven't heard of the others, I'll keep my eye open.

I have tried the Miyoko's. I would use Earth Balance for things like dinner rolls, vegan mac + cheese, etc., but if I were to make a vegan Fettuccini Alfredo, I would use the Miyoko's. It doesn't quite taste like the yellow butter I'm used to, but is cultured, and would blend well with the flavors in that type of recipe, and would make a better sauce for something like that imo.

Since you mention making your own mayonnaise, have you tried the almondaise recipe? My mother and I made it years ago, with some modifications, and we got addicted to it for awhile. Was really good!

There was one that was free of D and dairy, and while it most likely had palm oil that's still plant based and something I don't avoid 100%. Anyway, it's been years since I've bought it as it began to be too hard to find.
I rarely use spreads anymore. Looks like they discountinued the almond oil Country Crock which was by far my favorite

I will have to try the almonaise recipe! Maybe with cashews instead as I was gifted 2 pounds of raw cashews! Person didn't notice they were raw and knew I used them

I'm not that particuar. And I don't use that much margarine. mostly for the occasional grilled cheese sandwich. I just checked my frig and I have Earth Balance. Vegan but it does contain palm oil.

True, the palm oil is a concern to me, they claim to use sustainable sources, but do they and what is 'sustainable?' Now I want a vegan grilled cheese... 🥪🙄

Oh, I didn't realize they'd ever had one without cholecalciferol or dairy hidden in the natural flavors! !The cashewaise sounds good. It will be different than the almondaise, which had a particular balance of fllavors. Who knows though, might be just as good and easier on your blender

I'm curious, I really dislike almond "flavor" though I do like almonds on their own. I have a Vitamix so blending is no issue

No. for grilled cheese?
Yep! I've been making my own with soymilk, veg oil, ground mustard (emulsifier) vinegar, lemon and salt with an immersion blender.
I use to spread on the bread to grill, for potatoes, corn, baking,...almost anything that calls for spread other than straight toast.
It's very good to season well and add to noodles with lots of nooch and some lemon juice-and a touch of dijon mustard

I have tried this one, albeit with store bought vegan mayonnaise. Imo, it was okay, neither good nor bad especially, 'though I did notice it gave a less toasty and flavorful bread. Because the oils in it are non-saturated, it doesn't cook the bread the same way I'm used to and crave. I've heard others recommend this also though, so it's either a 'trend' or maybe there's something about it many like, that I can't see.
