UK Product Thread

I definitely realise how lucky we are. :D & in restaurants now too. Like being able to get vegan cheese on your pizza in zizzis, pizza express & ask now for example... How amazing is that!

I just called up the nearby organic food shop and they are now stocking vegan grated cheese. It costs 23.27 € / kilo. Violife at Morrison's costs 11.40 € / kilo. Food prices are so ridiculous over here compared to the UK.

I asked him why they couldn't stock Violife or another French organic brand and the assistant had no clue. So I was told to call back on Monday and speak to a manager.

^ I haven't tried those crisps yet. I really like the Eat Real Chilli & Lemon Lentil Chips. Yummy.

I ate an entire packet of them this week and last week.:D

I like all of the flavoured Eat Real crisps. They're amazing. Not into the plain ones though really.

I forgot to mention on here, in case anyone missed the news, that the Hackney vegan market is now on every Saturday! Due to the demand, they increased from once a month to every single week. Amazing.

Hackney has loads of vegan friendly places now.:)

I hadn't been out to London to go to vegan restaurants/cafes in so long. When I checked what new ones there were I couldn't believe it! There are lots in east London.:woo: I'm going to try and visit at least one place a week from now on.

Ha, well, it's not like I'm going to buy a 3 course meal at each place, I just want to try them to see what ones I like.

I get free travel on public transport in London because of my husband's job too, so that helps.;) There are lots of free things to do in London too, parks, museums etc... I went to an art gallery the other day when I visited a new vegan cafe. It sounds like I work for the London tourist board.:p It's just that I thought I should take advantage of the fact that I live in one of the best countries in the world and in one of the best cities in the world.:)

Agree !! Lucky you.

I was talking to someone about my trip to London and Brighton the other day and couldn't speak more highly of it. The person also said that he preferred London to Paris and would often spend holidays in the former, despite being French.

I just saw this, it's just in London at the moment, vegan milk delivery. They don't deliver to my area.:D
London Nut Mylk delivery service

I haven't tried the dairy free Ben & Jerry ice cream yet...

That is unbelievable. I didn't think that dairy milk was delivered to the door these days.

I saw some plant based Haagen Daz whilst I was in California. I didn't buy any as it was 7 $ per carton. I find that ridiculous for ice cream.

I tried the Violife halloumi cheese today, hmm. I have to admit that the last time I tasted dairy halloumi was probably back in 2004?

I liked the vegan one and I thought it did taste like melted dairy cheese. I'm not sure if it does taste like halloumi from what I remember, but it was nice and I'm definitely buying it again.:)

How did you prepare it ? Halloumi is quite salty and a bit rubbery. I like it pan fried and drizzled with pomegranate molasses served with a rocket and strawberry salad with loads of olive oil vinaigrette.
