Rampant Racism in America

Apparently people are mad he was not subservient/desolate enough during the sentencing.

Hard to stay composed however, when you look at the details of the case:

Lakeith, 15 years old at the time, helped his 16-year-old friend and 3 others to break into two homes in Alabama. A police office shot dead the friend in a firefight and was, of course, later acquitted of any wrongdoing.

Lakeith, however, was tried as an adult and charged under Alabama's "accomplice liability" law for that killing of his friend by the police, and, having earlier rejected a plea arrangement to go to jail for 25 years, sentenced to 65 years in jail, basically for participating in a burglary.

I have to rant a little, sorry.

OMG the comments on Facebook! People are melting down over not having Starbucks for ONE day. Imagine living in a war zone or disaster zone and not having your favorite coffee shop open for days, weeks, even months because there’s no power. In any case, they’re also whining that Starbucks allows people to just “loiter all day” without buying anything and think the company is overreacting to this “isolated incident”. Go to any small town in America and the residents will hang out all day chatting in the local diner or barber shop and not buy anything, and nobody complains. That’s because they’re friends and neighbors and part of a community and in any case, they’ll come back another day and buy something. And the entire racist aspect of this is obvious. I noticed a lot of white commenters whining about not having Starbucks for one day and “being punished” because that one Starbucks was “following protocol”. Starbucks consistently says in defense that the police should never have been called. The white woman who posted the video asserts that white customers are allowed to stay without buying anything, so yeah, if it’s “protocol”, it was applied selectively. The whole point of this training is to make employees aware of implicit bias, and outraged white Starbucks customers are calling for a boycott because they don’t get their cappuccino for one day. So maybe the company is just “saving face” by this move. How can this possibly be a bad thing? It’s not just a weak apology and let’s move on and hope for the best. They’re actually TRYING.

Thanks for letting me get this off my chest.
