Rampant Racism in America

*** Correction: AmySF *** , I clearly stated « Nobody in their right mind »

Yes, indeed, there is a percentage somewhere between 5 to 15% (depending on the region, more in the former communist part of Germany) who would likely mourn the outcome of WWII, but those are - so far - not considered acceptable positions.

And so far, nobody has erected any Hitler, Goebbels or Goering statues (in the US, I understand that started somehow 30-50 years after the end of the war)

Some thoughts about the terrorist who killed 4 young people of colour at a Waffle House, before being stopped by another young black man...

https://verysmartbrothas.theroot.co...at-happens-when-black-people-are-c-1825480663

Do I have to point out that Dump, who normally foams at the mouth if (certain) people commit attacks has so far not mentioned this, at all?

What I also find interesting is that none of the articles I had read before this evening had mentioned that all of the victims were people of color. Now, I've been out on various errands a good part of yesterday and today, so my news consumption is down a bit, but still, I had read several articles about this attack.

Another Waffle House incident.

Police throw black woman to floor, say they will "break" her arm during arrest at Waffle House

Short version, as we know:

Black woman places order in Waffle house, asks for extra plastic cutlery.
Server tells her she will have to pay 50 cents extra for cutlery.
Woman complains that the day before she did not have to pay extra.
Server cancels her order.
Woman demands to talk to manager.
While woman is waiting for manager, police notified by server arrive and violently arrest her, threatening to break her arm, exposing her breasts during the arrest.
Woman is charged with "disorderly conduct" and "resisting arrest".

Waffle house chimes in saying that arrest was totally appropriate because the woman used the "F-word" when asking to speak to the manager (follow up).
Despite outrage over viral video, Waffle House calls black customer's arrest 'appropriate'

A more positive message :)

All of you have likely heard about Philando Castile, the black man who was shot by policemen in a traffic control. Fewer of you have likely heard about Louis Hunter, his cousin.

In the unrests following the killing of Philando Castile, Louis Hunter was arrested and charged with rioting. Those charges were dropped, but by that time he had already lost his home and his truck which he needed for his job.

Louis Hunter is now - together with two people who became his good friendswhen they supported him through his ordeal - opening a vegan restaurant in Minneapolis, and you can help the three to reach their goal by supporting them. They already raised money by hosting vegan pop-up dinners in Minneapolis, and are now preparing to open their restaurant with the help of a kickstarter campaign.

I normally do not share any personal requests here on the forum, but I think this is a great plan, and I wish them the best of luck with this venture - They still have about 6 more days to raise the last part of the money needed to open the restaurant, if you are able to support them, please do so!

Some of you might know Sarah Woodcock, she was the founder of TAVS - The Abolitionist Vegan Society until she decided to take a break from vegan activism due to personal reasons. She and her husband campaigned for Louis and even managed to turn him into a vegan in the process :)

Unfortunately, I have to add, the reason why Sarah, a very positive person, decided to quit activism for animals was that she could not put up any more with the racism and sexism she encountered in the “Animal Rights Movement” :(

So I am really happy seeing her active in this project.
