No one has ever pardoned himself. The constituition doesn't prohibit it so it would have to go to courts. I don't think the courts would allow it. The spirit of the law is pretty much no one is above the law.But doesn’t he have to be convicted fir that to be the outcome ? I just don’t see that happening. Or are you saying that now that he’s been impeached twice he can’t pardon himself?
I don't think there are any legal consequences of getting impeached twice. but I just heard on Rachel Maddow yesterday that there is precedence for impeaching someone even after he has left office.
There is something else congress can do later, too. I don't remember what it is called. But it only takes a simple majority not two thirds. And if it is passed, it strips Trump of his pension, his secret service detail, his travel allowance, etc. Not sure about the library. I think a Trump Library IS a good idea. It would give prosecutors a good place to do investigational research.
