Animal Advocacy The Animal/Rights/Welfare thread

.......Admins, please do moderate my post if it happens to contradict the rules, but I just need to share one of the most enraging things I have ever heard: one extremely brainwashed religious fundamentalist explained to me that Easter lambs are very happy to get slaughtered! What the actual f*ck, I thought.
(Your post only partialy quoted) Whoa.... and I thought I had heard some wacky things as a child.. I did, actually- but it only went as far as people saying an animal was better off getting shot than starving to death.

What a ruthless thing to say. I could react by mentioning something about the nazi KZ-Lager's, but that would be extremely tasteless and offensive.
(BTW, when I studied agriculture and we had to learn how to organize a death camp for livestock, I thought it to be just a step away from Endlösung.)

Just completed NARM today in London. We think that 3000 (12000 two years ago) vegans turned up. We marched from Marble Arch to Parliament square.

Lots of police and loads of people taking videos and pix.

We certainly made a lot of noise for the animals.

We are already planning NARM for September.

This is mind boggling that it's happening in NZ. Boycott McDonalds!

"This truck was on the ferry here in New Zealand heading from Wellington to Picton. A vegan friend photographed it. She said the cows eyes looked so dead. She talked to the driver and he said they were going to be used for McDonalds. I can't believe how skinny these babies are. I know they don't give them any food or drink for a few days before a trip because they don't want them to wee or poo on the floor but they have been starved for a long time. This absolutely breaks my heart. Just one of the reasons I am vegan."

Every Feather & Wild Life Rescue-Bolton, UK

''When a man with nothing - who sleeps rough in an empty building - travels several miles with a box of 4 baby pigeons it makes you see the good in the world. He had no home, no meal or electricity but to him those 4 lives were worth everything. He cried as he passed them to me - not because he was attached to them but because he was afraid I would refuse to help.

That man is an earth angel and someone I would be honoured to know because so many would rather tear a person down than help anyone or anything. Last week we had someone literally trying to stop us from being called to rescue a hen but that is not a man. This is a real man who gave up all he had to get those babies somewhere safe and warm. If you can - please be more like him''

Vile thug. Why did it take 3 years to get her struck off? Many animals suffered because of the vile person. Shame on those who did nothing to stop this.

STRUCK OFF | incompetent vet Emma Bowler, aka Emma Takken, from Market Rasen, Lincolnshire – failed to provide adequate care to 18 animals and caused unnecessary injuries.

I deleted the accompanying photo, which was in your original post #350 on March 25th, to save space- I hope that's OK, @shyvas . I know news items which report bad things happening should be posted, too- but this one really brightened my day! I hope the gentleman who brought the birds to the sanctuary gets some GOOD KARMA. He deserves it. I tried to find more info about him, but don't have a Facebook account.

Facebook is a fabulous way to get involved and learn more about animal rights. You can always create a FB account with a false name and block people from seeing your profile.

Squeaks-December 2023

Squeaks, a year after being saved from the streets of Brighton. He/she was either burned or something that couldn't be determined with feathers missing and on the brink of death. Today, he/she has a double room, lovely comfy cage and as much food as he/she wishes.

He/she refuses to leave the rescuers home and always comes back after spending a couple of hours outside with a flock.

Squeaks our miracle pet pigeon in Brighton. ''I will never leave home''.
