Health Issues The Everything Covid 19 Thread

My mom tested positiv a week ago, but doing fine.

I have had 5 negative tests since and still no symptoms. So, either my vaccines works well, or I have had it without knowing it...
...or you just didn't catch it! When my co worker had it, before the variants, we were working right next to each other. They say some have a natural immunity? Well, we were wearing masks then...
I hope she has an easy case :rose:

Yeah. I know people living with three covid positive without getting it. Before vaccines. So, some has an immunity perhaps…

It has been okay and I don’t think she will get side effects after it.

I had some possible suggestions but then I got this in my mail box.

"Sometimes people don't get infected because they're extremely cautious," Dr. Mark Siedner, an associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, told ABC News. "There are people who have their own health behaviors or are concerned about their own health or their loved ones' health."

You can order more at home Covid tests if you like.

My daughter is so annoyed. They lifted the mask mandate in school a few weeks ago. Yesterday, granddaughter’s best friend was sent to school not feeling well, assuming it was just a cold. She has not been feeling well since Saturday. She told granddaughter she felt feverish at lunchtime. Granddaughter was smart enough to out her mask on. Best friend went home and tested positive for covid.

She was at dance Friday night, possibly exposing the other girls. Then was in school Monday with fever exposing the other kids. I get that it’s likely to be no big deal if they all get sick. But the irony is, they have a dance competition on Saturday. Best friend is likely to be ok by then, but if any of the other girls get sick, they will miss competition. I know “stuff” happens, but so much could be avoided if sick kids would just stay home.

I feel like granddaughter will do ok. She made it through grandson’s covid and they were in each other’s faces the whole time. I think granddaughter has some super immunity lol. We shall see. It’s just a shame that people can’t be more responsible when it comes to sickness and spreading germs. I still feel the mask mandate should have been kept in place until the end of the school year. I will die on that hill, haha.

I’ve been following a family on TikTok. They started out as a regular family who likes to tell jokes. Then all of a sudden the next video is saying how the husband ended up needing a double lung transplant after surviving covid. So much for “ it’s no worse than the flu” crowd.

I bought tickets to a concert months ago, again hoping that we'd be out of the woods enough for me to go. It's not looking good now with the BA.2 omicron variant increasing in frequency. The concert is in two weeks. I put in for the night off just in case, but I have a feeling I won't be going. It's not in an arena, and it's general admission, meaning no actual seats, which is fine by me. But deep down, I'm feeling like I shouldn't go.

It's galling me because I've seen friends who've basically been road-tripping to see another favorite I had to pass on, and they are fine. <sigh> The show is in a club in Boston, so I guess I will watch what's going on there before I decide. I know this is a first-world problem, but live music is my happy place, and I haven't been able to enjoy it since the pandemic began. I just wish it would time out around a lull in infections, lol.

@PTree15 that is frustrating. I don’t think any of us thought we would be doing this for this long.
I got invited to my husband‘s cousin‘s 80th birthday party in May and I’m not going to that. There’s going to be 60 people there and I’m just not ready. He will probably go.

It is hard to know what to do. We just booked tickets for a concert in June without really thinking about Covid! I think we have about four more concerts before June as they were postponed from 2020. I have a funeral to go to in a few weeks too.

I find myself still not wanting to go anywhere. I’m not sure if it’s covid at this point or just an excuse to fuel my social anxiety. Covid was a really bad thing to happen for someone like me.

I know. I keep thinking that I had Covid already and wasn't that ill with it, but I don't want to get it again, obviously. But then with my husband working on London underground if I am going to catch it it would most likely be from his job anyway so I can't put my life on hold.

I did get a text yesterday about the 4th booster jab but I assume they sent it to everyone as I doubt I would be eligible for it.

I get it. Certainly no judgment here. It’s been too long.

My main issue is with symptomatic people going out and about assuming “it’s just a cold”. You can’t be fine one day, wake up the next day with runny nose and think you’re fine because you test negative. It can take three days to test positive after symptoms appear. And yet, I’m not unsympathetic. I get why it’s happening. No one wants to isolate for three days with minor symptoms, only to find out it wasn’t covid after all. Not after two years of being so confined. So this is where we are at now.

Then you have my daughter who is on the other side of testing too often lol. Granddaughter was exposed Monday. She has tested her twice already and will test her again Saturday before dance competition to make sure she’s negative, even though she has no symptoms of being sick. I’m pretty sure they did away with the requirements of asymptomatic exposed people needing to test, unless it’s before a medical procedure like my cataract surgery. Also, grandson is going to Nature’s Classroom on Monday. It’s a week long sleep away “camp” kind of thing. They all have to test beforehand to make sure none of the kids who are going are positive. That makes sense.

I'm going to one of the free tests I got as I can't believe I'm sick this way. We test every mon at work, which was neg. and I felt fine till Tues.
I have sinus and chest congestion, headache, tired, going through so much tissue. I'm not feverish at least!
Sometimes my ears hurt so bad when I sleep on my side--but not always. They were killing me in bed this morning, I had to try and turn on my back, and that wasn't good. Should make a pillow with an ear hole

I'm just amazed we're dropping all these mask mandates when variants are surging everywhere!
I'm just glad the places I go still have at least wearing them

My at home test was negative.
While I wouldn't want masks to be required for everyone for things other than epidemics, people with cold or flu symptoms should take it upon themselves. There was one person at work that had been sick, like I am now :worried: :mask: .
Ugh, I don't know.
I don't know how to tell if i should go to work. I wish this had hit a day later. I can't remember if we need a dr's note for the 3rd day off, or after the 3rd day

Apologies if this has been already posted as I haven't been following the thread:
It's about COVID 19 and vaccine hesitancy and ideology
