Health Issues The Everything Covid 19 Thread

Today at work it was announced that the mask mandate for fully vaccinated employees is lifted. Non- vaccinated and those who won't disclose their status are still required to wear them. We can now have a choice. I will not wear it when I am in the office all by myself, but I think I will still wear one in the fitting room as few customers are still wearing them and you do get closer that 6 feet to them.

and now my older brother has it too - a different city to my sister - he works with refugees in his home town, helping them find housing and moving etc and last week he did 3 moves and some were not wearing masks.... he is doing better, so far, than my sister who is feeling very fatigued still and it has been over a week for her - hoping my sister-in-law doesn't get it as she recently had surgery from which she is still recovering

My county is now 96% vaccinated and only 6 new cases of Covid reported. and none of them are in the ICU.
Surprisingly my county isn't even doing as well as some of the other counties.
I walked by the pop-up testing facility. A few months ago they had a long line. Yesterday - no one was there.

both my brother and my sister are doing much better now and although my sister was hit a bit harder they both are recovering quickly - so thankful and thank you all for your kind and healing thoughts

according to the waste water testing here in Ontario our rise per day is likely around 120,000 people which means currently 5% have it, whether they know it or not - 4th booster shots are now being offered for 60+ and the vulnerable - I haven't decided yet what I will do - I am still masking and staying away from everyone and when I go to stores etc about 80% are also masking

I had my yearly wellness check on Tuesday. She’s pushing the covid booster, among some others. She said omicron’s cousin is expected to cause another surge soon. I don’t know if I want another booster. 😞 I think I’d rather stay home and continue to mask when I have to go out. But then if I’m going to be around my daughter and grandkids, who won’t be masking especially at school, maybe I should get boosted again. :sigh: :pout:

Yeah go get boosted.
I've had 3 so far. I'm going in for another check up next month and they may recommend the 4th.
One reason to postpone is that maybe there will be a re-formulation out that might be worth waiting for. I heard they are working on one for the new variants.
They say the 4th has limited benefits too. so no matter what keep on masking. The grandkids might want to stay socially distanced and masked when around you, too. With these new variants I think a reasonable amount of caution needs to be adhered to.
IMHO little kids are just walking talking Petri dishes.

I will wait and see about newer boosters
Our company has had 11 weeks of no new cases!
Strangely that reminds me of a Farside or a Dilbert where they have sign that says X days without an accident, and the guy in charge of changing the numbers has fallen off the chair.

It would be my second booster. I was all in for the first one. I’ll likely do it, just not right now.

I am supposed to be going out this weekend to the vegan Burger King in London and to see a film, but started feeling like a had a cold last night. My nose is blocked and I'm sneezing. I was mentally running through who I have been near this week, just my husband, delivery people, a couple of shop workers and the estate agent. I haven't been out socially since the start of March when we both caught Covid!

I've taken this stuff called Vick's First Defence which is a nasal spray that is meant to stop a cold if you use it at the first sign.

That stuff really works! I already feel better and I've only used it twice today. You are supposed to use it 4 times a day.

I know so many people who have caught covid within the last week. I also bumped into the cat lady who is 73 and her niece (40 yrs) who is staying with her, has also covid.
The cases are on a rise since people have stopped wearing mask and are now socialising in crowded places.
Just anecdotally from what people have told me it does seem like younger people shake it off much more quickly. One woman online I speak to was hospitalised with Covid and so were her two sisters, all around 60. She said her daughter got a positive test, but she was better after 24 hours!

I felt better earlier but now I feel like I have a high temperature. My weekend is obviously cancelled. I'm so tired of this!

I have a lateral flow test and a pcr test at home, but don't know if I can be bothered to send them off.

Same here. Two friends said they now have it. One went to an open house where no one was wearing masks, the other routinely goes out clubbing without a mask.

I'm a bit nervous about an outing I went to on Friday with my brother and sister-in-law. They are members of a veteran fireman's club, so they invited me to dinner there. We thought we'd be eating outside because it was a nice warm day, but we ended up inside, as the outdoor tables weren't being used yet. I had my mask on while we waited for a table, but not one other person (including my family members) was wearing a mask, not even the staff. We were there for a good three hours eating and drinking (I had a couple of IPAs :) ). My mask was on an off for eating and drinking, but since we were there so long, I'm lying low for a few days just in case.

I was going to visit my parents on Saturday, but I nixed that idea. Everyone seems to be in denial about the pandemic. Both my brother, who has lung issues, and my sister-in-law decided to stop wearing a mask a year ago. Their reason: They've just had it with the restrictions and missing out on things. I do get that. But I still don't want to catch COVID. I plan to continue wearing the mask for the foreseeable future.

Today we are waiting for the announcement, whether we will go into Orange Light, whatever that is.. not sure.. i thing it means more people inside a restaurant... or something...

Winter coming too.. thinking of stocking up a bit on supplements... I take NAC, Zinc, Vit C, Milk Thistle, Vit D... Also Quercetin I hear is useful with this combo... and astaxanthin.... recommended online.

watched an interesting video last night from MedCram on youtube and the doctor was discussing Vitamin D levels and the relationship to Covid severity and some interesting studies have surfaced which show that getting our Vit D from the sunlight is likely better than supplemention because of all the other benefits of sunlight eg the infrared .... ah you know what, if I try to use all the proper medical terms I will screw it up so as it is just 24 minutes it is worth watching for yourself - he does have a longer video on the topic that is linked if you would like a more detailed approach - the best news is that you don't have to be sitting in direct sunlight to be getting the other benefits... for Vit D, of course the sun does have to touch your skin for a limited time - I found most interesting the evidence he presented on the northern climates and their lack of sunlight and how it correlates....
