TV & Film The TV Room

Japan like every other 1st world country has lots of American restaurants. Some are the standard stuff you see Everywhere. They also have their own Japanese versions of burgers and fried chicken.

My sister is in Japan right now. They are eating a lot of sushi. But like you, I would stick with the tofu and vegetable dishes.

We might watch videos like that too. Any recommendations on YT?

We were just saying that we want to book some trips next year as we haven't done anything in years because of our pets and health issues. Japan was on our list, but the food seems bad as I could eat rice, tofu and veg but my husband eats more UK/American style food so I think he would starve!

I don't really keep track of most of the random ones we watch, I would suggest putting in any areas that you are interested in into the search area of YouTube and see what comes up. Sometimes I go and look at places I have visited in the past to bring back good memories. I used to run an online holiday rental business in a town in Europe and so looking up recent youtubers who have visited the town is fun.

There are amazing vistas and photography that people do, all over the world and so getting to see it without going anywhere.

........ Sometimes I go and look at places I have visited in the past to bring back good memories. ....
(your post only partially quoted) I've been doing that lately, too. I don't suppose some of the areas I visited have changed much (not the historically important areas, anyway).

Reading over these last few posts has made me think of a lot of interesting places that I 'used to know' and so I have some interesting youtubing ahead.

Last night we watched this week's Survivor and then watched some musical acts on youtube - that is another of our favourite things to watch, especially on Friday nights - last night was some Hermin's Hermits (recent stuff) and other oldies that are still around.

We started watching A Man on the Inside yesterday. We are up to episode 5. It is about a retiree who becomes a mole for a private investigator in a nursing home. It is very lighthearted and stars Ted Danson.

last night we watched 2 more Silo, and Survivor and we also watched one of my favourite YouTubers a Canadian adventure guy Xander Butnick - I won't watch any of them where he hunts although I can tolerate when he fishes to eat only - he goes on survival trips in Canada and also other countries with limited resources

I watched the first season of The Silo on Apple TV and started the second. Now I wish I put if off a little longe because now I have to wait a week for each episode to drop.
I almost stopped watching the first season twice. The show is dark, slow moving, and the pacing is uneven. I'm on episode 3 of the second season and I am finding it more interesting and compelling.
I just found out that it's based on books and I'm thinking maybe of reading them too. maybe if I can find it in audio format.

We started watching a show called The Madness on Netflix last night as I read people were saying they binged it as it was so thrilling. The first episode was good and then it just went nowhere. We stopped after the third episode.

I agree with you - I wish we hadn't started it also as we only have a trial version to watch it and I would much rather binge the whole thing than have this weekly stuff... maybe we watch it again until early February...

We did start watching A Man on the Inside with Ted Danson last night and are halfway through the first season as the episodes are short. It is fun and it is always good to watch Ted.

Ok, good recommendation. I did see the preview and it looked interesting. fun and short - always could use more of those.
my nephew also has Apple TV and recommends Shrinkage.

I finished the second season of Lydia Poet on Netflix. I had a little trouble getting going on the second season because I forgot a lot of the characters from the first season. (something I have had trouble with when watching some other shows too. Just part of my bad memory.) Anyway I really like the show. I give high points to the art department for mise-en-scène. (just learned that word so I'm showing off how smart I am.) The costumes are terrific, especially Lydia's wardrobe. The quality of the mise-en-scène reminds me of Enola Holmes, the Queens gambit, and Emily in Paris.

I also started A Man on the Inside. it's perfect to watch while I'm eating lunch. Very cute and easy to watch.

After dinner I watched Midway. It's been out for years but I never got around to seeing it before. I think the movie would be best appreciated by people who know a bit of the real history. The movie is comprehensive so many interesting and important things are just briefly shown (like the role of the submarines) or even just alluded to (like the role of the codebreakers).

^ I said I really liked that. I hope Ted Danson has a cameo in the next series of Frasier.

We started watching Black Doves on Netflix last night. I have one more episode left.
