TV & Film The Walking Dead

I'm ****** they're keeping Gov around. They could have easily wrapped him up in this episode. Ah, at least they have a new Merle to spring sometime now.

And I was thinking about Andrea... First the Gov stabs Milton, and then goes to his people to prepare for the attack. Unless they were already prepared, that probably took like an hour, and then to get to the prison had to take at the very least ten or fifteen minutes. The incident on the road back, the hesitation of the group at the prison... More and more time clocking up. Andrea had way more than enough time to break out. Plus, even if Milton wasn't turned yet - the process can take a while - didn't he still die pretty slowly for someone who's been injured so badly? And when Andrea was bitten, wouldn't she have died long before the group arrived?

The continuity is a bit sketchy here.

When the Governor started killing his people for a second I thought maybe Martinez would be the one to kill him, after which he might have made an interesting group member... having started to click with Daryl and all. I suppose this is still a remote possibility.

I hope he eventually jumps to the good side.

I know,:p having a heart to heart talk at a time like that. :argh: Aww, I cried when she died though. I was expecting them to get back and find that the Gov had killed all the ones left at the prison. It was a good episode but I expected more main characters to die.

Yeah I feel like they really hyped up the deaths and the finale and it just didn't live up to my expectations. Not that I wanted a lot of major characters to die, but I was anticipating being blown away by the end of the episode and I wasn't.

Also agree that they should've just killed off the Governor this season.

I was also a bit disappointed with the finale.

1) Extending the Governor’s storyline into next season is anti-climactic. I love his villainous self; he’s diabolical, sadistic, ruthless, insane and yet in possession of charm and charisma. For those reasons I understand why they want to keep him around on the show a lot longer (I guess there has to be someone in that role.) That being said I think he really should have died in sync with the abandonment of Woodbury. Martinez should have popped one in his head and been done with it. That would have been both a surprising and satisfying ending. Especially since we know Martinez has some capability of bonding with the prison group. (As we saw with Daryl.) I have no doubt they will write the Governor into some really powerful storylines to come – but I think it will still feel a little watered down.

2) I know most people disliked her character - but it was still sad to see Andrea go that way. She added something to the story as a whole - after all you can't love everybody in the cast. When I watched the reruns I found I was more sympathetic to her character. She wanted to blow herself up - but came through it. Watching her evolve was great television. And come on – did your heart not break right along with Michonne’s? Her shedding tears is not something we’ve seen before.

3) WHY THE HELL didn't someone shut and lock the inside prison door once the Woodbury citizen's militia all passed through??? That should have been the plan!! Lure them in to a location that could ultimately be secured once they were inside it - then lock them up! Annihilate at will! And no one thought of staying behind to disable their armored vehicles once they disappeared inside?? I found it bordering on outright idiocy to have the strategy be - 'Let's just scare them away from here, maybe they'll leave us alone.' SO MANY great scenes could have come of this: IE - they didn't realize how many women and children were a part of the Governor's army - in the aftermath Rick's group would have unveiled their enemies <insert gasp! We just killed kids?> Plus, there could have been an epic standoff between Rick and the Governor on Rick’s turf.

4) I thought (and was hopeful) that when Rick, Daryl and Michonne took off to Woodbury they would run smack into The Gov, Martinez and whoever that other cat was. They could have had it out right there – 3 against 3. Not to be!

5) They placed a lot of emphasis on the Andrea / Milton scenes – more than necessary and I think that sapped some of the drama out of it for me. Remembering some of the on the edge of our seats Woodbury firefights from earlier episodes – this one was really lacking in comparison.

Right or wrong I don’t blame Carl for shooting the kid. They told him to put the gun down, not hand it over. The fact that he didn’t immediately do what they asked makes him suspicious. As soon as he said “Here, take it” I would have shot him too! Bad things have happened when they have hesitated in the past!

I also agree with others that there is a huge bloodbath to come with all those extra Woodbury characters. Especially when the writers have indicated that they’d like to concentrate more on individual character development next season.

And now the long summer of waiting…

Dedalus- #3 is brilliant! That would've really been a huge shocker.
I thought the same regarding #4. I assumed the Governor and his guys were headed back towards Woodbury as well...guess not.

Bad strategy is pretty common in cinema in general. About the only somewhat well thought out attack that's happened thus far in Walking Dead was Merle's attack, and even that could have been turned into a complete Team Governor annihilation with some very basic tactics.

When the Governor attacked the prison, the only thing he did right was having Martinez take out the guard towers. With the way he rolled in, even a single well covered marksman could have shredded that attack. Yet when Maggie and Glenn opened fire on the fleeing people, they somehow managed not to hit a single one at... what was it like 50 meters? With those rifles even someone with no more than two minutes of verbal instruction on how to aim should be able to take off heads at 200 meters with ease. Of course, completely realistic combat sequences wouldn't be realistic, but I agree they could do better without spoiling its cinematic appeal.

I still enjoyed the episode though.

I have no idea what this means. (Feels old and hides in shame.)

But I will share this with you:

Edumacation time!

A "ship" is short for "relationship" and signifies someone's desire to see a certain couple together, whether in terms of romance or friendship. Very common online these days.

The gif I posted was a picture of Fix-It Felix from the Wreck-It Ralph movie, whose tagline is "I can fix it!" So it's a joke on that and a morphing of the two.

Awesome link by the way, too funny!

I watched the second half of the series again and I got a lot more out of it the second time watching them back to back. It's coming back later in Autumn I hope?
