TV & Film The Walking Dead

That's what this show tends to do - make you like a character that you didn't like, and then kill them off horribly. I mean, look what happened with Lori!

Still, I almost felt worse for Daryl because it was clear that he hoped his brother could redeem himself and somehow fit into their group. And because he had to go through that.

I thought this week was the finale so I'm glad there is one more episode left. Merle seemed to change his whole personality rather quickly  but it was a great scene when Daryl found him as a zombie.

I had hoped that Merle would simply tell him how naive he was being to entertain that the Governor was ever going to leave anyone at the prison alone.

I like how they didn't just use random extras for the Woodbury militia despite there being quite a few of them and despite them not being individually developed as characters. Merle took out a lot of them during his suicide run, and every one of them was recognizable. This sort of reinforces that what he did measurably diminished Woodbury's formidability. Every one of those five or so guys he killed, given the lack of trained fighters at the Governor's disposal, is not someone he can just replace with an extra like it might be in other shows or movies.

I'd say Merle made a big step towards redemption even if none of the others will ever know. Not even Daryl really knows what went down.

I totally agree with this. I will miss Merle ... even if he was a jerk most of the time.

I was immune to the "liking Lori" brainwashing. Yeah she was a little less annoying this season, but I was still a bit relieved when she finally died.

I thought this at first also , but looking back you could see how Merle was slowly coming around during each episode. Betraying the Governor to save his brother, being remorseful and feeling guitly for torturing Glenn (telling Daryl how he can't join Rick's group because of what he did), and those moments where he obeyed orders from the group and helped out.

I think he also made a huge step by letting Michonne go. I was waiting for her to turn around and beg him to come back to the group. Tell him that he is indeed needed.

It was more the way she died for me, especially with Carl's involvement.

On The Talking Dead, Merle's actor said he really let Michonne go because he was sick of her trying to turn him around.

Not quite sure what to make of the sneak peaks so far. The thought popped into my head that a fun trick would be to set a zombie booby trap in the prison, take Woodbury while the governor and his militia are dealing with it, and then ambush them as they attempt to return, leaving them with their enemy defeated and a nice place to stay.

Coincidence that the Walking Dead finale is scheduled to air on Easter...a.k.a. Zombie Jesus Day??:hmm:

It's only Thursday, dammit. I feel like such a tool :/ Walking Dead makes me break my rule of not wasting my time following any series too seriously lol. As before, I'm almost anxious for the 6 month break.

Read an article that they are killing off 27 characters in the finale. I think Hershel, Beth, Carol and Judith are doomed. And many "extras" in Woodbury of course.....
During the off season I am going to read all the comics.

I hope Carol doesn't die. We hardly saw her this season, but when we did she had some good scenes that revealed how tough she has become.

Milton for sure is a goner. I'm just curious as to how they will kill him off.
