TV & Film The Walking Dead

I was happy with it. My daughter and son thought it was slow but it kept my interest.

I think some people go into it with the impression that it's supposed to be action horror (and they do have their moments), when Kirkman's story's are actually character driven drama.

Eh, I thought it was okay.

The addict, I can't remember his name, but he was super hot. That was pretty much the most enjoyable part of the show for me.

Otherwise, it was just kind-of meh.

Predictably, the only named black character is revealed to actually be a ******* and immediately killed off. You could argue that this is a show where violent death is common, but it seems to happen disproportionately to black characters, and in the most gruesome ways. I doubt it's conscious racism but it's weirdly prevalent in the main show, and now seemingly this, and I wish they would get a grip.

Objectively it was well-written but something about it didn't hold my attention very well. I was waiting for it to be over, which is the exact opposite of how I feel during the main show. I think part of it is the fact that zombie virus "origin stories" oversaturate every kind of media imaginable and we've seen this exact sort of thing a million times. What makes the Walking Dead great is that it shows what happens in the fallout of your typical zombie apocalypse, after the new order of things has settled into the world, and examines its effect on the remaining survivors. There are only so many times you can watch a zombie outbreak happen, with the stereotypical "revelations" about the nature of the outbreak, before it starts to get sort of dull.

Then again, the zombie virus in TWD has always been slightly different than the one found in most other stories, so we'll have to see where that goes.

Basically I'm going to keep watching, probably the whole thing even if I don't care for it, but I'm not overly enthusiastic about it at the moment.

The addict guy is hot, I agree. He's a good actor too :'D

I wasn't particularly enjoying it until **** started going down.it was boring and cheesy before that. Are they going to show how the virus actually comes about? I thought that was the idea!

I don't think they will ever get into the how or the why. I think in George A Romero's stories as silly as it may be they simply concluded that it was because Hell was full. I doubt Walking Dead will ever offer explanation either, in fact I think Robert Kirkman has said he'll never go there. But as far as The Walking Dead versus other tales of zombie apocalypse... Well, George's stories are political and social symbolism through and through and The Walking Dead is mostly situation drama where if you're focusing on the zombies you're really missing something

I wonder if there could be an incorporation of the two? Human drama surrounding the creation/spread of the virus, perhaps. Or maybe little glimpses without telling the whole story. Like the CDC storyline in TWD Season 1, that was pretty good. There was an obvious overtone of knowledge about the virus while still not revealing everything.

I think the point of the CDC bit in S1 was to get across that it's something dormant in everyone, no bite required... This was for TV only pretty much...

In the comic book Rick goes and digs up Shane's grave for confirmation lol

Lol, I will still watch the next one but I hope it seriously improves as it was a snooze fest.

Lol, Moll...it's funny because the reviews I'm hearing are so split!

I wasn't even really concentrating as it wasn't holding my attention. I hope it gets better!:)

I was rewatching a horror film called The Mist the other day and it had Carol, Andrea and Dale in it.

How weird, I just looked up (Carol) Melissa McBride and she was in Dawson's Creek. I don't remember that at all.

I saw the Mist a while back and was delighted to see those people in the film! I didn't know "Carol" had been in Dawson's Creek though.

Here's a bit of Walking Dead trivia for you... Greg Nicotero, producer of Walking Dead starred in George A. Romero's 1985 film, Day of the Dead and has since worked behind the scenes on several other Romero movies...

The being said... This is Greg Nicotero's head... You're welcome

TWD Cast Before They Were Famous
TWD Cast Before They Were Famous II

I've seen quite a few of them in old Law & Order episodes, I saw Michonne in it the other day and she seemed really different, her hair is short.

It's weird as I was sure that I hadn't seen Carol in anything before when I obviously had.:DThere was another character Morales in The Mist too and he was called Morales in the TWD as well and played by the same actor. He was apparently in season 1 of TWD but I don't remember him.

I just read that the lead actor Thomas Jane in The Mist was meant to play Rick. I can't imagine anyone but Andrew Lincoln in that role now.

I would agree, Andrew turned out to be perfect for the role. Initially my impression from reading the comic book about a quarter of the way through the issues was that Rick would be a Don Johnson sort of character besides the fact that Don is obviously too old to play Rick. But later once Rick shows his raw brutality it's really hard to connect an actor for the role. Andrew projects the brutality, a little crazy, and arrogance of Rick perfectly....

Sort of a spoiler but not really:
I really do hope that people are taking note that Rick is in fact growing over confident and very arrogant as it is very important to what's going to happen later on in the story.

I couldn't get used to Andrew Lincoln's accent at first as I know what he sounds like, did I say that my husband used to go out to a dance club and he was always there. I probably have said this same thing about 20 times on here.

I was just watching Law & Order and Milton (the scientist) was in the episode.:D

This looks interesting, zombies on a plane!:) 'The Walking Dead' to show airline zombie attack in stand-alone special

Actually not too surprised Andrew was apart of that music/dance scene... After all, he did end up marrying the daughter of Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson
