TV & Film The Walking Dead

I think the point of the CDC bit in S1 was to get across that it's something dormant in everyone, no bite required... This was for TV only pretty much...

In the comic book Rick goes and digs up Shane's grave for confirmation lol

Yup, that's what makes the virus in TWD a bit different than a lot of other zombie media. Truly does add a sense of dread, IMO at least.

That scene in the comic was great. A bit silly, but pretty dramatic. I am partial to the CDC storyline though, since it was the first indication in the show that there really wasn't any truly safe place and hoping for some safe house like that only causes despair.

Hmm, I'm pretty sure Romero's zombie outbreaks worked the same way.

Am I only one liking FTWD? My kids are still calling it boring.

I like it! I thought last nights episode stepped it up and it will start having more zombies which I think is what people want.

I think FTWD is building itself up to be very good. I think the main thing is that they make us care about these characters and I think they're getting there. I don't think it's boring at all, nor did I think the pilot was boring. I think it has to do with people's pre-conceived expectations... We are seeing how civilization unravels and that process wouldn't be like a flick of a switch... And as I've preached before (many times and here I go again) Robert Kirkman's stories are less about a zombie apocalypse and more about characters and how characters deal with one another... There are plenty of people I see on Facebook and places who rant about TWD original show being boring because they feel that it should be action-horror and that's simply not what it was ever intended to be despite some really intense and shocking moments throughout.

I think I'm liking Fear The WD because I'm looking at it as a whole other extension of WD...how it all began. I'm not trying to tie it into WD, even though there's an obvious connection. So I'm interested.

Really? I feel like I would have remembered that?

I think it was covered in either Dawn of the Dead (1979), or Day of the Dead (1985)(probably the latter)... They conclude that it's simply because Hell is full so the dead return regardless of circumstances leading to death

Me either! I watch for entertainment...don't ask me to get any deeper than that, lol.

I've been keeping a sharp eye out for anything that might indicate that the series is set after 2010. So far I've found nothing - everyone has the right iPhone and everything. Anyone else spot anything? Maybe a car or something? I'm determined to yell about this.

Very disappointed that FTWD was a repeat. Not everyone parties/ goes away for a holiday weekend, you know. Some of us like to stay at home and watch TV! WTH?! Lol

I thought the episode was pretty exciting myself and they will step things up quickly now as it is such a short season for them. We have to try to give the characters the benefit of the doubt as we know WAY more than they do about what is happening! Of course there is always the unrealistic stuff in any show IMHO.

I just found it hilarious that they left their front door open when they went across to the neighbours house. :'D who does that?! (Whether there's zombies around or not.)

Also, the ending was pretty ridiculous. The army just so happened to turn up at EXACTLY te right moment. Lol.

Aside from that, I did really enjoy it.

Exactly.:D I thought that part was quite creepy, especially when the girl had to go back into the house again through that weird garden.

I think that was a structure for grape vines or something like that. If I am remembering correctly from my childhood, I think my grandma had something like that in her back yard.

I missed the last ten minutes! I had my vcr going because I knew I'd fall asleep...one of the cats must have stepped on the remote because when I was watching it the next morning it had switched to another channel, lol. Little b@st@rds! Lmao

So I thought I would catch it on demand and it wasn't available. :(
