The Weather.

In case anyone wonders why I'm always so negative and never allow myself to get excited at the possibility of snow. The disappointment/let down is real. My possible 3-6 inches has now been reduced to this...

It feels much more chilly than the mild weather we have had this winter.

@KLS52 This season HAS been deficient in snow. When we got precipitation, it was always above freezing. It's almost starting to look like that "year without a winter" we had in this area a few years back... I think it was 2005. I think I used my snow shovel once this season so far.

@KLS52 They are still saying 6-12 for inland Connecticut, but I'm not sold on the forecast. It's still kind of all over the place timing-wise and duration-wise.

Yeah I saw that for inland. Even if you get less it will likely be all snow. I think I could get a couple inches overnight while I'm sleeping by then it looks like it changes over to rain so by early morning it could end up being a slushy mess. I'm surprised that SCW isn't calling it a bust for the shoreline. They're holding out for lower temps to maybe give me the snow I'm hoping for. I would take the 3-4 inches at this point without the slush. 🤞

By Wednesday we will be close to 50 degrees with rain so it's kind of a moot point. I'd rather just forget about this one and hope that the next system brings the snow.

I saw that SCW report, too, and was like, everyone else is predicting the slushy mess for the shoreline. My parents live in Charlestown, RI, and they are expecting mostly rain.

🙄 Ridiculous temps for January. So much precipitation and many chances for a real Winter. 😞

Not snow, but we might be getting sleet here tomorrow. It is quite nice and bright at the moment this morning.

I just went downstairs to get myself some breakfast and it feels cold! The temperature says 12.9 so the heating has been switched on.

So the weather people got it wrong for my area (surprise, surprise...NOT!). I have maybe 2 inches of snow, but now they are saying much more is on the way, like 9 to 12 inches. There is a winter storm warning in effect until 1 a.m. I'm not buying it!

I'm kind of annoyed because yesterday I visited my mom and pops and stayed only until 2:30 or so because the local news was in a tizzy, saying the snow was coming around 4, so I didn't want to chance driving in it as the trip is an hour and a half. Well, it never started until after 7. It was coming down pretty fast at midnight when I went to bed, so I was expecting a good 5 or 6 inches, but we must have gotten sleet or rain because the snow is just covering the grass. I don't even have any snow on the steps!

Southern Connecticut Weather is saying even us on the shoreline will have something this afternoon…he said the temp are dropping. They are going up here, almost at 39 degrees lol. *facepalm* I just don’t get it! *shrug*

*I’m on my ipad using the keyboard and emojis don’t come up when you type in the word…I’m too lazy to use the ipad touch keyboard to post the icons so hand the ** with the word, lol. *grin*

I haven't checked SCW of late, but we actually have gotten 2-plus inches since I cleaned off my car a while ago, lol. And it's still coming down pretty good. So maybe we will end up with 5 or 6 inches after all. That would make it pretty. :)

We've had snow lying for a few weeks now.
Saturday daytime was -20, night -24, Sunday -13 daytime. It was -21 when I got up this morning and -18 now (at 10:34)
So cold that the damp in your nose freezes when you breathe in :)
Not quite Siberia but still.
The big lake (Vänern) was frozen as far as I could see.
Although they have holes cut into it for the ice-dippers (of which there were a few brave people)

By the way -20 is degrees C, that's -4 in old money.
