Regarding Amelia... Well, I haven't actually started it yet, but it is the next selection for my book club. :)
LOL, I just realized I put in the wrong title. It was Reconstructing Amelia. It was OK. People apparently compared it to Gone Girl, which I've never read, and said GG was better. Some of the plot lines just weren't believable, and the character development was sort of weak. The only character who had any real depth was the title character. Still, it generated quite a discussion in our group, so it was good for that. :D

^ I didnt like Gone Girl, feel like the only person on planet who didn't.

I cant remember if I moaned about it so I'll moan about it here haha. I bought The Maze Runner thanks to reccomendation here, but when it arrived off Amazon the copy was awful. It had been dropped in a bath :0 I wouldn't even give a book in that state away, let alone sell it. The pages are all stiff and some stuck together (and wavy obviously) and I dont even like touching it let alone reading it. gag. Has been recycled and an angry email was sent to the seller. OK so it was only £2.81 including P&P but STILL! They apologised and are sending a refund woot and I'll just buy the damn thing in Waterstones. Wish the library near work was better.

I'm reading The Year's Best Sci Fi Short stories, twelfth edition. I love sci fi short stories! It's long though, there's a lot of content and I want to finish it this weekend so I can get some recommendations from a friend from the library. Lady authors! I've been reading boy books, which are super awesome, but I need to create a little lady space in my brain.

I couldn't get into Gone Girl either. I read Trent Reznor is doing the soundtrack to the film.Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross Sign On To Score David Fincher's 'Gone Girl' | Contactmusic.com

The last thing I read was Reiko, A Japanese Ghost Story.

Sorry for laughing.:rofl:That is disgusting.

Another one that couldn't get I to Gone Girl. I read the kindle sample & had no desire to read the rest of the book at all.

Currently reading Breakfast Of Champions by Kurt Vonnegut

That's hilarious! & very strange haha. I think the new copy from amazon isn't much dearer than that?

I read that very recently! It was wrenching, but obviously very good. The pictures were pretty great.

I thought Gone Girl was extremely irritating, and ended up skipping much of the second half.

It often baffles me, the books which become wildly popular.

A Horse and His Boy by C.S. Lewis.

I read the Chronicles of Narnia many times as a child and now I'm reading them to my son as bedtime stories.

I hate Ben Affleck for some reason, but I also hated the Gone Girl character he is playing. So this means I may enjoy watching him in it because I get to hate him on purpose?? Even if I dont like a book I like watching the film anyway to see what they did with it.

I now own Maze Runner, brand new copy from Waterstones ha. Glad my bizarre story amused, how do these things only seem to happen to me haha. Funnily enough the book seller said I could pick another book from their store as an exchange and I chose Breakfast of Champions, except they then said it was sold out so I just got a refund.

Yeah me too. I can think of some examples of terrible books which have become huge (looking at you 50 shades and twilight)

I'm jealous of your dreaming abilities. I have been trying to lucid dream since I read that book, but I can't seem to get it, which is really frustrating. The book came with a CD with trance induction and sleeping stuff, which I downloaded to my ipod. I've also tried to listen to some isochronic tones, but it hasn't really worked other than putting me to sleep.

I started reading Geek Love because I had read about it earlier in this thread. Haven't had much time for reading though.

I doubt this will help you, but I gained the ability to lucid dream after A Nightmare on Elm Street came out and I started thinking about the movie.

For those who like urban fantasy I recommend:
Blood and Bullets by James R. Tuck
a Deacon Chalk Occult Bounty Hunter Novel.

My current favorite.
If you like Jim Butcher's Dresden Files or Larry Correia's Monster Hunter International I think you'll like this.
It's the first of 3 novels in the series that he currently has out - there are also 3 novelettes that are available only in eBook format.
You can also try out a few free Deacon Chalk short stories to see if you like it. Links at his website:

Ah, yes. A Nightmare on Elm Street. If I could choose to dream about one thing, it would be A Nightmare on Elm Street. o_O :p
But through the joy of lucid dreaming I know it's a dream, I'm in control, and I can make Freddy scratch that itchy spot I can't reach on my back.

In reality, the way it works (for me) is I don't actually control my dreams. However I know that I'm dreaming, and if I don't like what's going on in my dream I rewind it to earlier in the dream and set it down a different path, or sometimes I just tell myself to wake up.
I can supply myself with equipment or abilities in my dreams (kind of like what they did in The Matrix, except simpler - I just think "this would be better if I had the ability to jump around like the Hulk does" or "I should have a back hoe" and I do).
I can also continue a dream I started one night into the next night (I normally have to make a conscience decision to remember the dream when I wake up and then again when I go back to sleep to do this though - though not always).

I do the exact same. Especially the rewind bit.
