Finished a Tim Dorsey novel called "Clownfish Blues." Another hilarious book about our lovable serial killer Serge and his always stoned sidekick , Coleman. In this one they were in my area and DeLand and Deltona were mentioned!

Oh, that reminds me of my joy when I was a teenager to encounter a 30-book series on American folk hero Davy Crocket in our local library.
Not really aware of the reading order, the second book I read of the series was "Davy Crocket defends the Alamo". Go figure.
He died there. So yes, it was the last book in the series.
Gary Larson's take on that ...

After that, I looked up the correct reading order for the others.

I myself am currently reading George Orwell's "The Road to Wigan Pier".

I read a few of the ND and HB books. But if the "Animorphs" series had been published that long ago, I probably would have been into them.

Ahh... the bad old days.
Nowadays you just google the reading order and hit the libraries electronic card catalog.
but I have distinct memories from elementary school to maybe about 10 years ago hitting the library shelves. taking all the books from a series to a table and rearranging them from alphabetical order to chronological order.

@Lou I sometimes find myself moving a library book to its correct place on the shelf if I come across something out-of-place.
once the books are arranged in order by the author's last name (and first - if the there are multiple authors with the same last name) the books are arranged alphabetically by title.

If you want to Read the books in order that doesn't help at all. except for Sue Grafton books. (A is for Alibi....)

At most libraries the policy is not to reshelve the books you take off the shelf but just leave them for the librarian. they just don't trust the patrons to put the books back right. So I would just leave the books in a neat pile near the shelf I got them from. Always did feel a little guilty doing that but I like following the rules. :)

Just finished "Mrs. Morris and the Ghost" by Traci Wilton. This is the book I should have read first in the series. It was a good light read and I will see if there are more in the series.

Finished another Robert J Wolfe Alaska series book called "Judas Wolf." This book was very informative about the Eskimo culture and the government agencies that oversee wildlife, hunting, fishing and conservation. The same characters are in the series of books and they are likable and realistic. The Eskimo man who helps the anthropologists is torn between the modern world and his culture and the woman has her own private battle concerning a child. This book also has the perspective of the wolves which is really interesting. If you are disturbed too much by hunting and fishing, maybe avoid this book but it is educational in describing how the Eskimo and Indian people of Alaska still carry out their traditions. I will read more of the series.

I am reading the first book of this series, thank you for the recommendation, and have the second book waiting from the library. I am also reading Nicholas Spark's The Wish.

Just finished book 2 of Manticore ascendent. I may have read it before but I couldn't remember and it wasn't in my Good Reads list. Book 4 just came out and I got it from the library but after just a few pages I realized I didn't remember if I had read book 2 or 3. So next on my list is book 3.

The Manticore Ascendent series is a hard science fiction story. It takes place in the Honor Harrington universe but predates Honor. I have read all the HH books, and liked them all.

Next up is Justice Hall - another Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes mystery. I've started it twice but never finished it before it had to go back to the library.

I'm also re-listening to Glass and Steele audiobooks as bedtime stories.

Your post has piqued my interest, as I am also a fan of hard science fiction.

Tried to find a Kindle version of the first HH book (On Basilisk Station) but there was none available.
Luckily, I found a review informing me that it can actually be downloaded free on the Baen Books website. So now I'm ready to give it a try :)
