News 2016 U.S. Presidential election - the highs and lows

Last night my partner, who is a long time republican (I am not and never have been lol) received a phone call from some political organization. They simply asked if he would be supporting and voting for the republican nominee Donald Trump. My partner replied that he will never ever vote for Donald Trump, but that he will be voting in the general elections. The caller hung up on him. Interesting....

Since they called our house phone, I do worry slightly about vandalism now. :/ or worse. It's a sad day when one has to worry about this stuff.

Those kind of calls can certainly feel invasive and violating, but I think more than likely, it was a "salesman" for Trump, looking for support and donations. When your partner said "no" in no uncertain terms, the caller chose not to waste his time further, and just move on to the next potential supporter.
 
I can't stand her. She's like a hybrid Sanders/Trump mutant with the worse traits of both.
 
Oh, and I'd like to add that just getting on the ballot means nothing when your name isn't familiar to most voters, they know nothing about you, and they don't want to take the time to find out. They'd sooner write in "Batman" (or leave that part of the ballot blank altogether) than vote for an unknown if they're not happy with the two main party candidates. That's politics in America, unfortunately.
 
She's making unrealistic promises like Sanders, with the distasteful Trump like comments.

I had enough after she said Hillary was a bad mother on Mother's day and is pushing the Sander's supports to sue the DNC. She posted specifically how she spoke to supporters at a vegan restaurant, and she supposedly supports a plant based diet, but isn't vegan herself and serves meat at her fundraisers. She's either a hypocrite, or is doing what Trump is doing, telling each group what they want to hear so they'll vote for her.

As far as I've seen, she has done zero in regards to animal welfare. She doesn't have any platforms regarding animal welfare period, not even a token 'puppy mills are bad, I'll fix them', or 'low cost spay and neuter is needed'. Nada.

We all want equal rights, good pay, housing, education, etc, but you can't just make campaign promises, you need to explain how you will logically accomplish these things. It's too late to try to figure it out after you're in the White House. Plus some of her platforms are ridiculous...place an immediate moratorium on all evictions. I'm sure homeowners with non paying tenants will love that. :rolleyes: I see a lot of people losing their rental properties if that were to happen.

From her 2016 platform, she plans to reverse the Obama ban of the morning after pill for girls under 18. That ban was removed in 2013. Nothing like a little misinformation to get people riled up. :rolleyes:

  • America's youth should not be put in jail for offenses they commit.
Sorry, if someone under 18 robs a store or bank at gunpoint, or rapes, molests, abuses an animal, or kills someone, they need to be in prison. If they were to sell my daughter or granddaughter drugs, they need to be in jail. If they break into my house or steal my car, time to go to jail. Being a minor is not a free pass to commit crimes.

That's one of the most childish and immature things I've ever read during this current election cycle - on the Democratic side. (The Republicans are far worse.) Are they going to stick their tongues out and go "nyaah nyaah nyaah" as well? :rolleyes:

("lost its civility" hahaha ... is he naive or just dumb? I'm not American and I know about LBJ and box 13, JFK and the Chicago Mafia, The Democarts "bosses" etc etc. Sure people did n't cuss in public back then, but the dirty tricks done by both parties lead to Nixon thinking it was par for the course to burgle the Watergate Complex etc. )

Presumptive US Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump says the European Union (EU) will break up within a decade because of immigration and Europe will be “unrecognizable.”

He made the remarks in an interview with The Times during a visit to his Turnberry golf resort in Scotland on Monday, only days after people in the UK voted in a historic referendum to leave the EU.
