News 2016 U.S. Presidential election - the highs and lows

Well, Indiana being Indiana, they'd just elect some Mike Pence clone to replace him. The Koch Brothers have a warehouse full of 'em somewhere, ready to be elected at a moment's notice. They do tend to malfunction; just look at Marco Rubio at the GOP debate earlier this year. I think he was replaced with an exact lookalike when they couldn't fix him. That's why the "new" Marco Rubio changed his mind and is running for reelection.

Is it a distinct possibility that Trump is trying to sabotage his own campaign? Some of the things he does and says seems to indicate as such. He knows there's no way a huge segment of voters will vote for him anyway, but certainly not now with Mike Pence as his VP candidate. He claimed all the Bernie fans who don't like Hillary will vote for him now, but most die-hard Bernie supporters don't like Mike Pence because he's too right-wing. So either Trump doesn't really want to be president, or he's seriously delusional.

Pence was on shaky ground for being re-elected (his approval rating in his state is around 40%), and he's considered extremely mediocre at best (even among Republicans), so joining Trump's ticket is a risk free option for him.

Everyone who had any kind o potential political future backed out of the consideration for Trump's running mate.
 
I don't he wants to be president and I bet he regrets running. His businesses are under even more scrutiny now, all the lawsuits are being made public, he's losing contracts all over the place and the IRS is investigating him. I do think he's delusional as well (probably has a Narcissistic BPD), but I don't think he ever wanted to be president.
 
I'm voting democrat but really wish Kasich were the republican nominee. He's not bad, pretty non partisan.
I'm proud of him for standing up to Trump.
Just hoping Cleveland makes it through this charade they call a convention the way the Cavs brought home the championship!
Maybe I should write in Lebron? ;)
 
So I was thinking... I was trying to figure out why Trump has picked Pence as his running mate and I think there's only one possible explanation for it. Trump had to pick Pence because Kim Davis simply could not be vetted in time... There you go, you're welcome.

Nah - he would never have someone who is not "a hot young piece of ***" associated that closely with him. It would make him look bad. :rolleyes:

Indeed. After all, we're talking about a man who was publicly speculating on what kind of breasts his daughter would have while she was still less than a year old.

People are not allowed to take guns into Cleveland's Quicken Loans Arena, which is hosting the four-day event, or within a secure zone outside.

But some people were photographed openly wearing guns nearby.

Cleveland police have asked Ohio's governor to suspend open-carry gun rights during the convention but he said he did not have the power to.

An Ohio man says he decided to visit Cleveland’s Public Square armed with a semi-automatic rifle and a handgun the day before the start of the Republican National Convention to assert his Second Amendment rights.

A group called Northeast Ohio Open Carry had planned a noon rally Sunday in downtown Cleveland, but only 57-year-old Steve Thacker showed up with guns. He drew attention from news media as Cleveland police officers milled nearby and a line of around 60 police bicyclists took a break before pedaling off.

Ohio law allows legal gun owners to openly carry firearms. Thacker says he was trying to make a statement about his rights. He complained that fees and background checks associated with purchasing weapons results in the government “selling back” his privilege to buy and own firearms.

The Cleveland Police union asked Gov. John Kasich to suspend Ohio’s laws allowing the carrying of weapons around the RNC, according to several local and national news organizations.

Kasich responded that it is not in his power to suspend the law.
