News 2016 U.S. Presidential election - the highs and lows

Here's a challenge that will be excruciatingly painful for some of you:

Come up with 5 substantive concerns you have about Hillary. (and avoid those "a weakness that's really a strength" type answers)

Cool. Since you're a Bernie Bro who has alternately stated that those who support Hillary are kool-aid drinkers and/or that we support her only because we hate Trump, I challenge you to come up with 5 substantive concerns you have about Bernie.

So, my 5 concerns about Hillary:

1. I'm not particularly fond of the whole political dynasty thing.

2. I'd prefer that Bill Clinton not be back in the White House again. (This is personal to Bill, whereas #1 is a general thing that applies to the Bushes, the Kennedys, and a bunch of families on the state and local levels of politics that I could also name.)

3. I would much prefer that she had voted "no" with respect to Iraq. It was when she voted "yes" that I realized that she was contemplating a run for the Presidency. I know she's smarter than I am, so I figure she had to know that the WMD thing was manufactured. She did what so many Democrats tend to do - the GOP has spent so many decades and so much energy trying to paint Democrats as weak on defense that most Democrats take care to avoid that brush.

4. There was some animal rights bill in the Senate while Hillary was a Senator. My sister (in Missouri) emailed Hillary's office, asking her to support the bill, and received a response saying that the Senator responded only to requests from NY residents, not those from other states. :p

5. Hmmm....I think I've run out. In fairness, that means you only need to list 4 o your gripes with Bernie.

Another thought:

The gist of what I've been reading in this thread is "we know she's not perfect, but she's the only choice we've got"

Doesn't that realization twist your stomach in knots a bit? Just a little maybe?

See, there you go again. Hillary supporters are either kool aid drinkers or supprt her only because Donald is worse.

It's sad that you don't see the arrogance in that.

Oh, the implied personal attacks in that sentence....

You're just jealous because I telecommute, and have access to my work and personal laptops simultaneously, and you still do it the 20th century way. Your carbon footprint must be YUGE. :p

I was responding to your implication that I didn't post immediately because I couldn't come up with anything.

My carbon footprint is quite small, thank you very much. Most weeks I drive less than ten miles (for the whole week).

I doubt there is ever going to be anyone perfect as president as it is not realistic, the last time I was very enthusiastic about a leader here in the UK was Tony Blair, but I was young and I have grown up since then.:p

HC and her advisers/policy makers will have paid attention to what Bernie Sanders was saying and what themes resonated with voters and act accordingly. Well, they have been influenced by some of his ideas already anyway so that is quite a victory in itself IMO.

For me, it's a combination of the person and the policies. The policies are much, much more important, but there are lines I won't cross. For example, I have spent quite a bit of time trying to imagine whether I could vote for a candidate who mocked a disabled person. I've concluded that I wouldn't, no matter how abhorrent I found the policies of the opposing candidate. That - mocking a disabled person - is just a failure of basic decency that can't be excused by upbringing, social mores, whatever. Just completely and irredeemably disgusting and awful.

There's a difference between someone playing the ruthless game that is politics, and someone behaving like a disgusting pig. So hypothetically, if it were turned around and Clinton were the staunch conservative, and Trump were the liberal made in the very image of Bernie Sanders himself with the exception of not having much respect for women of course, and that pie hole saying despicable things every time it opened... In that scenario yes, my stomach would be in knots over voting in this election.

It works for Trump, because his band of deplorable love it and view him saying pigish things as him saying "**** you political correctness... F U C K Y O U!"

Well, I've never been a Bernie bro, and even though I liked some of his ideas, I never supported him in the evangelical/inquisition-like way you defend Hillary.

Besides, I have expressed my concerns about him in earlier threads, at least one of which you liked.

And unless you haven't noticed, he's no longer running, and therefore no longer relevant. (Hillary just brings him out occasionally to keep his supporters happy)

It's amusing, the way you ignore and deflect and turn to attack.

You should apply for a job as a Trump spokesperson; you're such a natural at those tactics.

You underestimate Bernie. He doesn't allow himself to be trotted out like a pawn. He campaigns for Hillary by his own choice. He could stay in the Senate and grump about his own failed campaign, but he's too smart for that. He knows Hillary would be a good president and how important it is to keep Trump from being elected.

Well that's true, but IMO, he's doing it to leave some type of legacy, as this may be his last opportunity.

In an interview with the Huffington Post, Anna said she chose to wear the shirt and attend the rally when she heard the disparaging remarks made by Mr Trump about women.

“I made the shirt as a protest to people in the public spotlight on such a global platform making such disrespectful, degrading and misogynistic comments and still being taken seriously,”
