News 2016 U.S. Presidential election - the highs and lows

I voted for her.

Good for you if you put one in the + column. I do wonder how many others you may have discouraged though, with your constant, unswerving negativity. You managed to depress me, even though you didn't manage to persuade me. I suspect that you had a more tangible effect on less committed voters.

VV is the only place I discussed my views.

I don't do FB, Twitter or other mass social media. I seriously doubt my "unswerving negativity" on VV resulted in Clinton losing the election.

Michael Moore: Morning-After To-Do List

5. You must say this sentence to everyone you meet today: "HILLARY CLINTON WON THE POPULAR VOTE!" The MAJORITY of our fellow Americans preferred Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump. Period. Fact. If you woke up this morning thinking you live in an effed-up country, you don't. The majority of your fellow Americans wanted Hillary, not Trump. The only reason he's president is because of an arcane, insane, 18th-century idea called the Electoral College. Until we change that, we'll continue to have presidents we didn't elect and didn't want.

I do think that everyone owed it to basic decency to try to stop Trump.
If Hillary Clinton were to win, we'd still have mass-deportation, mass-incarceration and drones dropping bombs on predominately Muslim nations. And on top of all that, we'd have a whole bunch of people remaining silent because a friendlier face is in the White House.

ETA: It's not my intention to sound harsh toward you, Spang. I think you're a really good guy, with a good heart. I also enjoy reading your posts. They always give me something to ponder, even when I end up disagreeing.

Everyone keeps ignoring the fact that Hillary won the popular vote, more people voted for her than for Trump. If it wasn't for the outdated and unfair electoral college, she would rightfully be president.

I've always felt we should get rid of it, every persons vote should count.

Is it true that Obama would not have won if it weren't for the electoral college? I don't remember.

It's not true. He won by considerable margins in both elections, especially the first one.

ETA: He won by 9.55 million votes eight years ago, and by 4.98 million votes four years ago.

Emotions about the election are as high today as they're ever going to get, and this is all that's happening. It couldn't be any less significant.
It's still only day one, but people are organizing, too.
We can’t wait for the next electoral cycle. We need to organize outside of electoral politics. We need to have started years ago.

And we will face not merely indifference, but open hostility, as misogyny, racism, and islamophobia become legitimated in the highest political office of the land.

Because many Americans clearly resonate with his messages.

Let’s move, people. There’s work to do.

As long as there isn't any violence, or destruction of property, I like that they're showing their disgust.

No, we are not.

You came back to VV just to say this? Have you even been following the news at all in the last year? The Neo Nazis, KKK and White Lives Matter crowd got their president. How can you be so blind to the ugly racism directed at President Obama and his family for the past eight years? The Republicans set out to obstruct everything he did simply because of his skin color.
