Barcodes and Bible Prophecies

Thank you! Yes I agree, it is super creepy and Orwellian, the idea of wearing a barcoding tattoo. All it is is an attempt for those in positions of power to control us. It may not start out that way, but that is definitely how it will end up.

some people can see it, but some people would be quite happy to become cyborgs....I don't mind if people want to become cyborgs; as long as no one has this technology forced upon them, which they probably will have by some employers.

Such technology, historicaly, is never 'forced' on people, per-se.

Bank accounts would be one example ...

No one is ever 'forced' to have a bank account.

The 'choice' to either have a bank account or not be able to recieve your SS/wages remains a free choice available to everyone even to this very day.

Purely a bit of 'lateral thinking', but!

People do get a bit 'uppity' when things go wrong because those in power failed to have sufficient control, do they not?

Essentialy anyone not fully commited to total anarchy only object to those in power having control by matters of degree.

oh yea, I know.

Eventually one would end up very marginalised if one didn't accept this technology into one's body...I think it probably would end up in people's bodies anyway, just a matter of nanotechnology-infection.

Look at this person's article here!

Crazy, right? Some people take the Bible so literally, word for word even, and they spend their whole lives trying to prove that it is correct. One can even feel a bit sorry for them, that this is what they do with their time.
I would stay cleared away from av1611 websites and alike , they are King James only leglistic idiots that think their version of the Bible is the only version for people. They are full of legalism and control and mind control also and they are the reasons I have had problems with my own faith.... Also stay cleared away from Jesus is the Saviour website as well..

If essentially fusing with technology, i.e. cell phone implants, provides one with an adaptive advantage, then it will likely eventually become the norm. The laws of cultural evolution have been hammering away at us for 10,000+ years. Good and bad or right and wrong never really has anything to do with it. Many things about modern life are in direct contradiction to the way we evolved to be, yet they persist because the way we evolved to be is obsolete within the context of modern civilization.

Life in this world is always going to instinctively feel wrong, and so long as simply following our instincts provides an adaptive disadvantage, I don't think there's really anything we can do about it.

perhaps if we could get this singularity under way, then I could have a robot friend. Someone to sit and listen to me moaning, and my silly ideas for books and films.. Marvin would be ok.

What if the singularity wipes out all humans?

anyway the singularity beings would perhaps keeps us to experiment on, or maybe it would please them to farm us and make handbags from us.

I don't understand why KJV should be seen as any better or worse than RSV, TLB, NIV or any other popular versions/editions out there. Why all the angst?

I've often wondered if the 666 in barcode thing was deliberate as a practical joke. If I had developed the structure of barcodes, I'm quite certain I would have tried to have some fun with it.

I thought the singularity was when computers became more intelligent than humans. I don't think we would be needed after that.

Technically yes, if you go with von Neumann's original concept. Since then people have used it in that way as well as to indicate a time at which human life is indistinguishable from technology.

It all comes down to the idea that the Singularity changes everything due to the advancement of technology and there is no going back.

Depending on how loosely you apply that definition, we may be already there. We can't really go back, only forward, technologically. We've probably been that way since the invention of agriculture. Our technological infrastructure is so interdependent, and so reliant on a ramp-up of millenium, that there's no easy way to unwind.

I tend to use a more restricted definition for the word "singularity" without modifiers - that where we reach the point where we create intelligences vastly beyond our own, that are incomprehensible, with an unpredictable outcome.

With modifiers, I tend to use the word "singularity" for a technological milestone with wide-ranging outcomes which someone before the milestone could not likely predict the outcome. Which kind of matches with your idea. We'd have had several of those singularities already. ICs leading to the current technological world, for example.

The Bible is a bunch of stories. Any resemblance to the real world is purely coincidental.
Why would you say this? I'm not Christian either, but there's really no need to be rude about people's beliefs.

About the 666, once in a Miami Subs my receipt ticket # was 666. I was all excited (lol I'm easily amused) and said to the guy when he called the number, "Yes 666 is my number," but he was very unimpressed.
