Barcodes and Bible Prophecies

I think some of the miracles in the bible might be true(This is just a natural matrix after all).....I have my doubts about the parting of the red sea....I had this idea that the parting of the sea story might be a mistranslation. It might have been a crowd of people that were in the way, but they were persuaded to part and let the Jews through.

Beancounter's lack of faith disturbs me sometimes,

This is a common (erroneous) view among some Theist.. that if a person is a non believer then they must not have any morals or ethics.

I remember taking an intro to philosophy class as a senior in college in a class filled with freshman (I had to complete my social sciences requirement).

The professor asked if their were any Atheist in the class, and I spoke up. A freshman girl commented "well if you don't beleive in god, you must be beleive in Satan". The obvious flaw with that logic is that an Atheist doesn't beleive in divine beings of any kind, so an Atheist by definition can't beleive in Satan (a divine being)..But there is that underlying presumption of evil intent because I don't beleive in the existence of a god.

although I do feel a disturbance in the force when I hear some atheists....

I suppose I don't want to be brainwashed by atheists...I'm a weak willed person...:p

Maybe it's for another thread but I wonder how many of the fundamental Christian blowhards would be prepared to go to their death in the arena like the early Christians under the Roman Empire.

It must have been pretty scary to die for one's beliefs like that.

Oddly enough, a lot of the stories about Christians being martyred in the Roman arenas or fed to lions or whatever were a made-up attempt by the early Church to gain sympathy and followers.

By a lot, I mean all of them.

There are literally no affirmative accounts of Christians being forced to fight in Roman arenas.

yes, I was wondering about that after I posted. Maybe it is so, but minority religions often do have to put up with some persecution, I think.

well it must have started off as a minority religion.
At the beginning it was only a handful of people.

I don't understand why KJV should be seen as any better or worse than RSV, TLB, NIV or any other popular versions/editions out there. Why all the angst?
I agree I am actually an Ampflied Bible version reader, its modern and it get explained better.

What I find interesting is how different people define the term "miracle", especially in comparison to any other "act of God" which is essentially everything to some faithful people. I know a pastor who claims that miracles aren't necessarily extraordinary things that simply happen but extremely fortunate coincidences that to some may suggest divine intervention in the natural matrix to which you refer. For example, you could wade across parts of the Red Sea before the Suez Canal was constructed. Israel may have gotten to the bank just as the tide became tolerably low and the Egyptians when the tide was coming in. Add a little interpretation and artistic flavor, and you have one heck of a story.
