How to answer 'those' questions

 I know that this type of chatter goes on in most work places... but this kinda school-yard gossiping about people is so mean and childish.

Mostly it is more petty, tedious and mind numbing to be honest.

It is a new dynamic as it is a formation of several small offices into one bigger one, a definite, obvious divide had developed with half the staff are intelligent, sharp witted and a pleasure to engage with, and the other half ...well not!!!

Problem is the mix is not in my favour as the NOTS sit down my end. A desk relocation request is in order I think!!

Well, that too. But I think it's nasty to discuss people behind their backs like that. The nice thing about being at university is unlike school and work places, you never really spend time with people unless it's of your choosing. You don't really get the same dynamics as when lots of people work together in an office, or wherever. The times I've held summer jobs/work placements in work environments, it was kinda a surprise to realise that kind of gossiping/etc still happens with adults.

I know, it is ridiculous. In the office I'm in, there are factions as well. I just try to escape from all of them and hang out with the nurses in urology.

Yep I can identify with that. I went to Uni late in life and during my time there kind of forgot what the 'real ' world was like and just abandoned myself to the luxury of moving in and out of groups as the mood took me.

Bit of a bump back to earth when I left and went to work at Age Concern and was chained to a desk in an office where main source of conversation was who had the shiniest pen, the biggest desk and the most expensive shoes!!!

When somebody learns that you're a veg*an, and immediately starts telling you some anecdote about how their colleague's boyfriend's cousin's daughter became a veg*an and got so sick she had to be rushed to the hospital, what's the best way to respond?

Dumbassed replies to this particularly dumbassed piece of dumbassery keep popping into my head from nowhere ..

"Quite! Sleeping pills and cheap gin are just one of many vegan diets that will have you in hospital in no time whatsoever"
