TV & Film Movie Lounge

I know. I was obsessed with that movie back in the day.

She also played a great character in the soap opera, Santa Barbara. :D

It's been off the air for years, now. It was one of my faves.

Holy flashback. I completely forgot about that soap. I never watched it though. My loyalty lied with all of ABC's soaps. Which Sydney Penny also appeared on (All My Children).

Last movie I watched was The Hangover for maybe the sixth time? It seems to always be on TBS which is one of the only 10 channels I get. I still have to see the second and the third ones.

Has anyone else seen " Mandela" yet?
Been to see it tonight and have come out with a realisation that I know much less than I thought!

I took my daughter who grudgingly was persuaded to despite being "not at all political" and favouring some dumb rom con!

I felt confident that I would be able to answer her questions but had to admit shame faced that could not give her any background to the other men sentenced with him.
Anyway .. She was completely absorbed whereas I being ever the cynic wondered about poetic licence over historical accuracy!

That being said I now want her to see the film I saw some years ago about Winnie Mandela to throw another angle on her portrayal in this film. I can't. For the life of me remember its title.
Can anyone tell me what it was called?

The End of The Affair.

''On a rainy London night in 1946, novelist Maurice Bendrix has a chance meeting with Henry Miles, husband of his ex-mistress Sarah, who abruptly ended their affair two years before. Bendrix's obsession with Sarah is rekindled; he succumbs to his own jealousy and arranges to have her followed.''

Julianne Moore is stunning in the film and it is one of her best roles.

Last watched "Mary and Max" .... that was weird. knew nothing about it. Was looking for things to watch and my friend found a "top ten animations" list and it was on it. Weird. I wasnt expecting an adult black comedy. Havent processed it enough to say if I liked it or not, haha.

It's one of my very favorite movies. I hope you decide you like it, in the end. :) It's beautiful. I also really like Harvey Krumpet, by the same people and in the same style. It's a short film.

I watched Crystal Fairy and liked it a lot. At first not so much, because of how hard it is to watch someone being a self-absorbed *******, but then it really got good.

I went to see 'The Railway Man' ..brilliant film. Colin Firth at his very best playing a serious role totally convincingly. I cant recommend it enough. It was captivating from the first scene to the last.

And... has anyone seen 12 years a slave yet? I have heard some appalling reviews from both the media and friends who have rushed to see it only to announce it 'pretentious' 'arty' and very, very long. Anyone got a different angle on it?

I never go to the cinema but would like to see this film. I think that I'll wait until it is on satelitte TV.

^ Yeah that film has "wait til it's on TV" stamped all over it haha.

Hmmm I'll track that down. I think, upon mulling on it, I did like it. Funny how that happens with films sometimes. It took me a good week to decide that I hated Black Swan.

Admission- It was alright. Despite the fact that it starred Tina Fey and Paul Rudd, I wouldn't rewatch it.

Finally watched Butter, I liked it.
Devil's Pass - Terrible. The more I think about it, the more I hate it.:down:
The Vicious Kind - Wasn't sure I liked it, until I watched Devil's Pass. After watching something so awful, it made me appreciate the acting in this movie.
Guilt Trip - Different than what I was expecting, but I still liked it.

I loved Butter! It's nice to see that actor (the bald foster father) not being a jerk.
The Vicious Kind was hard to watch because of how brutal it was (emotionally), but I really enjoyed it despite that.
