TV & Film Movie Lounge

I found the movie Rememory free on Google play, at least today, 8-26. I never heard of it, but it stars Peter Dinklage so, yeah I'm gonna watch!

Yes, saw that the other day, not bad. Because Peter Dinklage.
Check if they also have "The Station Agent". Another good movie, think it was his first success.

Have watched "Unlocked" on the weekend ... hmm ... starts out more or less as a serious and gripping thriller, but the many plot holes and inconsistencies IMO sink the film totally about half an hour from the end. Not worth watching.

The basic premise of the movie is that there are Islamist terror attacks happening, and that highly placed people in the CIA and the British Secret Service facilitate (actually: encourage and start) them in order to get approval for stricter measures against terrorism.

For good measure, the "evil imam" actually has had a change of heart and now tries to keep Islamist terrorists from carrying out attacks, so the CIA conspirators try to change his message to potential terrorists... :dizzy:

So far, so good.

That, however - apart from basically whole CIA teams actively subverting their missions - a decorated British sniper would go rogue and kill a few "straight" CIA agents, and do it with the service weapon issued to him by the UK government, which is such a special weapon that a 5 minutes call to the weapons officer will bring the immediate answer that this is actually the only weapon of such kind in Great Britain currently not accounted for, let alone if the multiple bullets left behind would be forensically analyzed ... that is more than a bit implausible.

Snipers should have heard by now that bullets can and will be linked to the weapons they were fired from by forensics departments, and possibly use a less conspicuous weapon for his treasonous murders ... and this is only the start of a number of very unbelievable occurrences.

:yuck::down:

IT is really good. You'll like it most if you like the book (if you don't like the book you won't like it at all, it's pretty faithful and has some of the same issues and hallmarks the book does). If you're looking for a good scary movie that knows how to build tension for jump scares and has likeable characters, you'll like it well enough.

If you're afraid of clowns do not see this movie unless you also really like being scared. If that's the case then you have a moral imperative to see this movie.

Jer saw it with his buddy yesterday.... he said "It was OK." Of course, he & his bud are hard-core horror fans, so nothing scares them... he said he enjoyed it, but it was pretty formulaic & predictable.

I can relate. When it come to my favorite genres (detective mysteries, psychological thrillers, et al), there's rarely a twist that I don't see coming a mile away.... ;) LOL

Hmm, as the book "It" has been around for 30 years now, I would not be surprised if it being "formulaic" might be for the reason that it inspired lots of other stories and movies in that time... :D

Well, to each their own, but I am a hardcore horror fan - totally desensitized to pretty much everything - and this movie got me good a few times. Not just jump scares but full on shaking dread.

IT is almost singlehandedly responsible for the entire eighties "kids go on adventure/fight the monster" formula, along with a handful of other classics like The Sandlot and Goonies.

I have in my hands a CD, containing the soundtrack of the movie "High Fidelity", and I am now loading it to iTunes to listen to it on my iPod.

I just couldn't help but notice the irony :)

The movie is about a bunch of nerds hanging out in a vinyl-only record shop reminiscing about the good old times and making "Top 10" lists about everything imaginable...

Watched Guardians of the Galaxy 2 last night... Jer borrowed it from his buddy & pushed me to watch it. I liked it about as much as the first one. :dismay:

We went to see Flatliners. Hadn't seen any trailers/reviews or anything. When it first started I thought it might be quite interesting in regards to the afterlife etc but it turns out it was just another horror movie. Not good, but not terrible either.

^ I want to see that Raggle. I really loved the first film.

I'm going to see IT next week and I just watched Annabelle Creation at home. It was more creepy than I expected it to be.

Have watched "Atomic Blonde" ... very cool movie with good actors, and manages to capture the atmosphere of Berlin 1989 as far as I can judge!

A few plot inconsistencies in the end, however, that took away from my overall viewing pleasure...

Okay, I wasn't expecting It to be so violent and disturbing. I didn't find it "cover my eyes" scary, but it was very creepy and menacing.
