Supper/Dinner Time! What's on the menu ?

Valentine's dinner was steakk from The Very Good Butchers which is made from jack fruit. Boiled potatoes and sauted carrots/parsnips.

The steak was decent, I wouldn't buy it again. I really prefer the Future Farm burgers as you get a similar to steak taste and feel. This was another item from our vegan store run and it was $12 (for 2 steaks) whereas the burgers are $9.

had the rest of our Nuts for Cheese blue cheese on w/w melba toast crackers and a couple of slices of the 'swiss-like' too with olives, cherry tomatoes, banana peppers - will not buyer either of those cheeses again as they are not a very strong taste so will likely stick to using the occassional shreds - had carrot cake for dessert and then some popcorn with Frank's hot sauce on it

The blue cheese sounds nice. Is it artisan style?

I have had vegan steak twice in a restaurant in the past few weeks. One was shockingly expensive (£27 for the whole plate of food) and I think I preferred the taste of the cheaper one (£17 for a whole plate of food, but this was a full roast dinner) although the steaks both had a similar texture.

I actually think the vegan steak we bought from the supermarket was better than both of the steaks in the restaurants. The Meatless farm one which is less than £4!

I loved, loved the one from Sainsbury's own brand.

Thursday night we had homemade pesto on gnocchi with Yves meatballs done in sweet chili sauce.

last night we had the chkn pot pies from my vegan store which they make inhouse - the chkn was soy curls and we had one each of the personal size and they were tasty - with boiled potatoes, sauted carrots/parsnips and mushroom grave

the chkn were nicer than the beef ones - they are expensive though at $7.50 CAD each so there is no reason why I can't make our own

both nights we had carrot cake/walnuts for dessert

It does look like it's an artisan style cheese as it's fermented and contains cashew milk. Looks good!

My absolute favourite dairy blue is Stilton and it's actually quite mild. The only substitute that I've found is La Faumagerie's blue cheese
which is available at Waitrose.

Very expensive indeed. Pies are one of my favourite meals and I make quite a lot of them during the winter months.;)

I have not posted here recently because I have been eating so many things I have already posted.

Today for lunch I had a rice and bean burrito from a local fast-food.

For dinner I made tofu and mushroom pitas. As per Sauce Stache's recommendation, I boiled mushrooms and onions, then added tofu as it reduced until fully reduced, and served on pitas with kale. I only added salt, pepper and olive oil to the boil, and it was very flavourful. Less is more!

aglio y olio penne with mushrooms, bell pepper, olives, onion, garlic and also soaked soy curls in stock/poulty seasoning/garlic powder then mixed up a teriyaki type sauce with soy sauce, rice vinegar, ginger powder, garlic powder, oelek, a bit of sesame oil, maple syrup and then did the soy curls in the frying pan with the sauce and served on the penne - very tasty
