Well, in the case of Carson, Warren is engaging in identity politics. He's black, so of course he's the right choice to be the head of HUD. :rolleyes:

I read yesterday that even though wages are higher than in say the 1970s.. living and food costs have trebled and subsequently eaten up any gains in wage for many people.. and actually leave people much, much worse off than in the 1960s, 70s, 80s etc..

Also there can be extenuating factors too.... all sorts of things can happen beside wages that can decrease income. And we are far more vulnerable to this these days because of the insane living costs.

I was watching a programme today and someone was saying that Donald Trump managed to move the news about the marches down the news agenda by talking about the photos of the inauguration. This seems true actually as I've noticed that people have been talking about which photo showed the most people instead of talking about the issues raised by the marches. He is quite clever, unfortunately. He is playing the media like a fiddle.

Theresa May is meeting him soon, I cannot imagine what she must be thinking about meeting him, especially now after his new comments about torture.:fp:May's meeting with Trump: a collision of contrasting world views | Politics | The Guardian

As a general aside, isn't it interesting that it's never "identity politics" when the person in question is a white male?!
