TV & Film The Walking Dead

I thought it was pretty cold to leave the hitchhiker behind like that but I do understand it. I couldn't do it myself; I am a big softie and probably would not survive in a zombie apocalypse.

I wondered why they didn't at least slow down and tell the guy to turn around and start walking the other direction - towards the prison (since they definitely wouldn't pick him up on the way out to pick up more guns - too risky). But they could have picked him up on the way back. Giving him that information may have inspired him with some hope which in turn may have helped him stay alive - the guy was obviously really desperate.

That being said - this is the group that just tossed out some really sane, good people who could have really helped them out. So it wouldn't have made any sense to have them show compassion towards another stranger just a week later.

Arg! I am still tempted to get back into this again.

Does it get better than the first series? I was really disappointed in it and couldn't be bothered to stick with it.

Liked the comics but they seemed to keep learning the same lessons over and over again and that got dull.

(I may have made posts like this previously, I forget)

What kind of zombies are there in this serie anyway?

Just regular slow, stupid ones?

You have to watch it! :D
And .. yeah ... pretty much standard run of the mill zombies. LOL

The funny thing is that in the first two or three episodes, the zombies were a mix of slow zombies and fast, almost 28-days-later type "infected"-esque zombies. Oddly enough they quickly abandoned that premise for the run-of-the-mill zombies, and I think that was a good idea.

I agree with thefadedone. Definitely worth at least a shot!

The first series is very different from how the show turned out. I liked it personally but I can't speak for everyone. Season 2 had its moments, and Season 3 is turning out to be really consistently good (aside from one or two dry episodes).

They're certainly doing a lot to separate it from the comic. Most of the same characters, quite different storylines. It follows a similar basic format but the specifics are hugely altered. This isn't to say that there aren't plenty of amusing comic references, of course.

In the book, aside from that they are basic zombies. In the movie they are basically vicious human-sized army ants and will sacrifice themselves to make freaking bridges out of their own bodies so the others in the freaking hive mind can get across a space and eat all the people there.

The Walking Dead would be a very different show.

World War Z is an awesome book. The amount of detail they go into on both the outbreak and the effort to reclaim the world makes it unique. I'm actually glad they're not trying to follow the book too closely with the upcoming movie. There's just too much content for a couple hours.

I'm still reading WWZ and haven't nearly finished it, which is surprising for me because I like it and I usually tear right through books I like. For some reason I just haven't been reading it regularly.

I received mine as a present. Not to mention, I'm not sure I'd like audiobooks. Perhaps that's something I should try? Although I do love to read.

I love to read as well, but I have to make frequent trips from Canada to Vermont. It's a few hours each way and I find audiobooks, which are usually the same as the books word for word, to be a a good way to make the trips less boring. World War Z went all out too. They even have different narrators for the different characters in the book lol.

Never read WWZ, but I recently saw the trailer for the upcoming movie. Although I despise Brad Pitt, I gotta say that the movie looks pretty awesome.

I never thought I'd say this but I was with Merle the entire episode. Everyone else seems to be ridiculously naive (except maybe Michonne).

You can't reason with a psychopath. Even if the Governor had accepted Rick's originally terms, the agreement would have been pointless. He knows this, or he should anyway.

And trying to decide whether or not it's worth giving up Michonne to save the rest is just as pointless. Rick even said he believes the governor will still try to kill them anyway. Rick should have shot him in the head the second they walked in there. Since he didn't, the rest should have attacked the meeting. Since they didn't, they should now follow the advice of Merle and Michonne and hit Woodbury first. But nope, they're probably gonna wait and have the fight in a manner that puts them at the greatest disadvantage, such as the entire town of Woodbury laying siege to the prison or them walking up to Woodbury with Michonne which, whether with the intent to give her up or as some sort of diversion, will give up the element of surprise, with which they could easily take the town. On a positive note, I'm glad Glenn and Maggie are back together, though the soldier in me was pretty frustrated at them for leaving their post to do the getting back together :p

Another great episode! I was yelling at Rick at the beginning "SHOOT HIM!" of course he didn't listen....
I suppose that would have been too "easy". Enjoyed the interaction of the opposing sides on an individual basis; Hershel and Milton and Daryl and the other guy. Glad to see Milton is starting to wise up....
