It looks like we're looking at an interesting Telltale cross over coming up... It looks like the new group we meet next episode may be from Telltale Game's Michonne mini series that is suppose to take place during the time jump after All Out War, other than the obvious fact that it's early (no big deal), our connection with them (Oceanside) is through Tara rather than Michonne.
It's damn smart really... We have a universe consisting of comic books, novels, and video games that they can borrow from.
Okay, now I'm going to go on and on about **** no one here cares about... Because.... I'm hyper, that's why...
So we have Tara Chamblers, who is actually a character from the novel The Rise of the Governor, as well as her whole scenario of meeting the Gov. Tara and her family we only get a few chapters of and what happens after Phillip and his group part ways is left to the imagination. In the Novel Tara's sister is April Chamblers, but what they did is in order to work in Lilly Caul they placed Lilly as Tara's sister... Had they stuck to the comic book Lilly Caul would have been at Woodbury in season 3 (casting blunder of original show runner/writers?). Lilly was in a few issues of the comic book (she kills the Governor, in a much more dramatic fashion), she was also in the novels The Road to Woodbury, and The Fall of the Governor series, and the Telltale Walking Dead game. Another amusing thing about Tara and Lilly's story is how they inject the little girl named Megan. The Rise of the Governor is obviously a prequel, and the little girl in the book is Phillip's daughter Penny. Naming the little girl Megan in this reworking of the scenario is an Easter Egg for everyone who has read the books. Megan is Lilly Caul's best friend in the novels... Another really cool Easter Egg is how the Governor (Phillip) takes on the name Brian, whom is Phillip's older brother in the novel. Bob Stooky was also a character that is primarily from the novels (He may have been in ONE issue of the comic book) as well that was for some reason thrown into Rick's group at the prison (odd choice, but I guess they needed to have a stand in for the premature death of Dale)... But hell, the references and throw backs to the novels was actually a redeeming quality of season 4/5 for me.
Damn, I need to buy the Telltale Michonne mini series, now I really want to know more about the source material that Oceanside community is based on...
