News US Republican candidates 2016 discussion

I didn't feel disheartened reading that. (I only read the USA Today article, though.) Compared to the older generations, to me these millennials seem more sensible. One could wish they were even more sensible, but all things considered, it could be much worse. Of course, as they grow older, their political outlook will likely change.

What is liberal to us will probably seem horrendously conservative in fifty years.

Jeremy, please be mindful that there are also Canadian forum members.
I do not think they will appreciate this ;-)

You're right Andy... I apologize for suggesting it... They don't want him back, and who can blame them?

No matter why they like Trump better, I have to be honest here; I would much rather see there be a chance that Trump got into the oval office than Cruz... Cruz and Rubio scare the **** out of me far more than any of the other Republican candidates including Trump. Four years of Trump would be a cakewalk compared to what those two Tea Party fruit loops might do, I think.

Yeah, they are true believers - of the fanatic kind. That's one of the points the article is making about Cruz (vs. Trump).

Frankly, I think Trump would be scared shitless if he were elected.

You're right, if he actually got elected he'd probably **** himself lol

I think the most important sentence from that article is

But beyond winning or losing, an ascendant Cruz brings a new class of conservative activists to Washington, who might displace the present establishment. In that sense, Cruz is an existential threat.

So the only thing those "GOP elites" are actually afraid of is losing their own access to the food trough.

So, Trump is refusing to participate in the next debate because Fox is reusing to replace Kelly as a moderator: Republican debate: Seven candidates against the man who isn’t there

In a normal world, people would see this grandstanding for what it is, but obviously, there's a sizable portion of the electorate who think Trump can do no wrong. It'll be interesting how this pans out.
