Literature What are you currently reading?

Her Fearful Symmetry - Audrey Niffenegger.:hmm: I read the first third last night and I was finding it interesting but it faltered very badly after the first half. The plot was absurd.:fp: I flicked towards the end to see what happened and it went further downhill.

I just finished Airframe by Michael Crichton. I am glad I did not read it before my vacation! It is an older book (1996) about an airplane disaster. Currently reading Hannibal Rising by Thomas Harris, which is a prequel to The Silence of the Lambs. I tend to read thrillers.

Textbooks. :p

I don't think I'm going to have much time for pleasure reading this semester. (Although we are reading a book in one of my classes later on that I probably would have read on my own had I discovered it.)

Next book I plan on reading is Fast Food Nation. Might take a while to get to it, though.

The Walt Longmire series of mysteries by Craig Johnson. And the latest Dave Robicheaux mystery by James Lee Burke.

those of you in England or elsewhere on the continent who can read this now should do so immediately. I begged my friend from Scotland to bring it to me when she came for a visit, and it was wildly addictive and hilarious and disturbing and awful. The best book I've read this year so far, despite the fact that the ending literally had me throwing the book across the room. Fabulous. It's not to be published in America until 2014, so find it where you can, or call in that favour from Aunt Gwen in Paris or whatever.

I am nearly finished with Mockingjay the third book in the Hunger Games trilogy. I am enjoying this series very much and now must see the movie! I like books for young people quite a lot.

Please, do tell us what you think of this one. There are generally quite a few mixed feelings about how she pulled it off.

Mockingjay was rubbish. I liked the first book but by the third it was just.. blah.

Anyway Im currently reading American Gods by Neil Gaiman. I accidentally read the sequel, Anansi Boys, a few months ago, without realising it was a sequel. Ooops! I just finished Norweigan Wood by the legend that is Haruki Murakami and really enjoyed it. That man can make anything interesting I swear.

American Gods by Neil Gaiman was a good read - but I've never read anything by Gaiman I didn't like.
I'm reading a few books right now (books in different rooms):
I'm re-reading Sandman Slim by Richard Kadrey which I really enjoyed.
I'm also reading Petty Pewter Gods by Glen Cook it's book 8 in the Garrett Files and the series so far is a fun read (you have get past his digs about veg*n food in the first books though, and not take them seriously - his partner/friend owns a veg*n restaurant and he makes "humerous" comments).
And my current bathroom reading book is Web of Lies by Jennifer Estep it's book 2 in the Elemental Assassin series, and while parts of it are a little off from what I think they should be I'm enjoying the series so far.
I also grabbed the last Sookie Stackhouse book from the library the other day and I'm thinking about re-reading it tomorrow. -I think I read it too fast originally as I 'm having trouble remembering the plot.

Not sure there was one. :p

Just about done reading the Wool Omnibus by Hugh Howey. Good, good stuff.

I have heard so much about this book, and so far it's not super impressive but I'm going to stick it out and read the whole thing. It comes recommended by many whom otherwise have great taste, so once I get over the simplistic writing (maybe I'm just sensitized after reading Women Who Run with the Wolves, in all it's verbose glory)
