Literature What are you currently reading?

I think I'm going to read some of the poetry books I bought in the last few weeks. Ginsberg, Plath, Whitman, and Emerson will do for quick and insightful reads until my copy of Steven Pinker's 'The Better Angels of Our Nature' comes in at the bookstore on Tuesday

I'm about done reading First Shift - Legacy (book 6 of the Silo Series) by Hugh Howey.

Next I'm going to start Limits of Power - The End of American Exceptionalism.

I'm reading UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go On The Record - Lesley Kean.

Since I've been sick I haven't been reading much, which is pretty much the opposite of my normal behavior when I'm ill. I've been sleeping A LOT.
However since my last post I did finish reading the last three books that I own of Glen Cook's the Garrett Files series (there are 3 more currently published -total of 13). I've enjoyed reading these and will most likely buy the last three books. I also read books 3,4,&5 of Jennifer Estep's Elemental Assassin series (there are also a few more of these published). These aren't going on my list of favorite books, but I thought they were okay for what they were: Urban Fantasy/Romance pieces of fluff.

I started rereading the last Sookie Stackhouse book Deadlocked this afternoon, I'll most likely finish it tonight or early tomorrow.
-I know for sure that I read it before, but for some reason, I'm remembering very little of it. Most of it so far has been like reading a new book.

Because I trust Forster's taste I also bought the Wool Omnibus Edition (the first five books in the Wool series) from Barnes and Noble in eBook format and I'll be starting that very soon.
While I was there I also bought House of Corruption by Erik Tavares as I read a review and it sounded like it might be worth trying.

last book read was The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. verdict? excellent, loved it. a magical, supernatural love story.

next up: What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty

I've just got into reading again, since I found a charity shop with great second hand books for cheap. I'm currently reading Silent Girl by Tess Gerritsen, an author who never lets me down. I'm also really into Mo Hayder and I'm having terrible luck getting The Treatment, every time I go to the library it's been checked out by someone else. And I refuse to pay nearly £1 to get them to reserve it for me!

Oh, I have that on my kindle app! Thanks for reminding me. Must read it :)

Currently reading 'Fallen' by someoneorother because my friend loved it & lent it to me. DO NOT LIKE. At all.

FortyTwo... have you ever read A Wrinkle in Time? It probably seems dated to young folk nowadays but it was required reading in my school.

Reactions: FortyTwo
I am currently reading Summer Sisters by Judy Blume. This is not a children's book however. It is very easy reading and quite enjoyable so far.

It's a very good book. I bought Madeleine L'Engle's four time books a while back, as I never read the books following A Wrinkle in Time
and it's been many years since I read A Wrinkle, but somehow I've never gotten around to reading them. I need to dig them out.

My internet connection fouled up again last night and corrupted my download of the Wool Omnibus Edition and House of Corruption from Barnes and Noble, and I couldn't get a good enough connection to try again last night, but I've downloaded Wool tonight and will try the other soon.

As I didn't have those I read a anthology called Home Improvement: Undead Edition, as with every anthology some of the stories were good and some not as good, but overall I enjoyed it. (Charlaine Harris. Patricia Briggs, James Grady, Heather Graham, Melissa Marr, and nine other writers.)

I also started a new book by Chris Evans called A Darkness Forged in Fire: Book One of the Iron Elves. It's a fantasy set in a land with elves, magic, and gunpowder and so far I'm enjoying it.

I'm reading Anthony Bourdain's Kitchen Confidential, Mary Roach's Packing For Mars, and working my way through a Ralph Waldo Emerson Omnibus

YES YES YES. And some of its sequels. Those books were crazy and weird and somehow religious but I still loved them because of those things.

That's also where I learned about Mitochondria, and the Biblical concept of Cherubim.

Started The Human Blend by Alan Dean Foster tonight. Foster is one of my favorite authors, and very seldom disappoints me. However for some reason I haven't read anything by him for several years (except a few Pip and Flinx novels - a popular series). I'm really enjoying this book so far.

Started reading Steven Pinker's 'The Language Instinct". I've had it for almost 2 months and have finally gotten around to starting it
