Literature What are you currently reading?

Well, let's see.

I started reading The Grapes of Wrath but it was terrible. Because I needed a new book for the assignment of the summer work, I went to the library and borrowed The Last of the Mohicans. Also while I was there I got out The Fellowship of the Ring, and reserved the first two copies of the Death Note manga because why not?

Also I haven't finished Christine yet.

I hated The Grapes of Wrath. I generally like Steinbeck, but that book was just awful. On the other hand, I really enjoyed Death Note. Interesting concept and a bit more thoughtful than most of the other manga series I've seen.

I read that stuff too... recently finished a book by Joan Collins. Pure soap opera crap! :D
I read in bed before going to sleep also.

I used to feel bad when someone asked me what I was reading and it was Jackie Collins or Sue Grafton rather than some great work of literature. But after 3 years of pursuing a degree in nursing and spending most of my time reading about the multitudinous ways that the human body can fail I just need some soap opera crap. heehee

I bought this book at a second hand stall at the market to day called Vegetarianism and World Religions to show how all major world religions--if you look at the scripture--advocate a meat free diet. This is esp true of christian texts that did not make the bible--those were suppressed and others were chosen. But the writing is there if you look at the original source. Fascinating stuff.

I'm currently working on To Kill A Mockingbird. I've only made it to chapter 7. I started this book months ago and haven't gotten very far. I keep getting distracted by other things. That's not good. :(

I *adore* that book and the film is one of the best, most faithful adaptations of a book i know.

Spiderman just has to say 'Miss Jean Louise, stand up. Your father's passin'.' and I go into floods of tears.

^ I loved that book too and the film. Gregory Peck was hot as well.<3

I started reading a horror book last night. The Town - Bentley Little. I was feeling tired and just wanted something easy to read. It is not particularly exciting but I will finish it today just to read the ending.

I read that one.

Going to get the Death Note mangas from the library today. Even with all my other things that need to be read, it doesn't bother me because mangas are so easy to read very quickly.

The Story of Stuff - Annie Leonard

It's okay.. but it feels like it's written for kids.

Oops. I'm reading a different book now. Oh well. I might try it again sometime in the distant future when I'm not being forced to read it.

That always helps. I didn't read it in school when it was an assignment either - I read it a little later on. Oh - by the way - on your recommendation from another thread I picked up some Lovecraft...haven't dug into it yet though. Just a collection of some of his stuff.

Cool! Hope you like it. It's certainly not for everyone, though, and I can see why others might find it dry.

LOVE these.
Us too. We've got several replica keys (head key, animal key, moon key and angel key) the animal key came autographed by Joe Hill and the angel key by Gabriel Rodriguez. http://www.skeltoncrewstudio.bigcartel.com/ Sweet! we've just ordered a display cabinet for them and hope Israel Skelton will make a timeshift key as well. I would love to have them all but they are pricy--but incredibly well made.

I love Joe Hill as an author--Horns is amazing and is going to be a film starring daniel Radcliffe as Ig Parrish. Plus his short stories collection 20th Century Ghosts is wonderful. Pop Art is my favourite story.

*scuttles off to re-read Horns*
