No, only one.
Only one personal insult against a female member of the board? I think your memory is short.
No, only one.
Yes, this. I also don't want to give any further fodder to people mocking vv participants on another forum.I think most of the female members have simply given up on rehashing the same arguments with the same several males. It gets tedious in the extreme, and even I, with my rather stupid tendency to keep bashing my head against the same old walls, stepped away from this thread for a while.
It's a dilemna, because when one gets fed up with wasting one's time, one is at the same time basically giving these guys what they want - to shut up females who don't fall into line.

Yeah, I'm pretty much withdrawing from participation in general at this point.I think most of the female members have simply given up on rehashing the same arguments with the same several males. So, who's degrading to name-calling then?... Sometimes it's not because you're a X, sometimes it's just because you're a buffoon.
So, who's degrading to name-calling then?
Well, only one on the basis of being a crude person, with nothing mutual going on.
I can't recall anything else right now, but that might be caused by intense hunger.
That's not exactly an improvement. Still, it's a good textbook example proving that females in positions of authority are generally held to a more demanding standard of behavior than males are. I can just imagine the uproar if I were the one going around calling people crude and inflammatory buffoons in my capacity as a steward. It was the mildest I could come up with.
But you're right, I could have said "crude and inflammatory person".

I seem to recall that a female VV member asked you to stop responding to her posts because of a gratuitous insult you levelled - it wasn't even in the context of a debate, just an insult out of the blue.
Oh, I think I remember that, but that was an inappropriate comment rather than an insult, it had no malicious intent behind it.

I suspect that the person against whom it was directed would have a different interpretation, and the fact that you didn't apologize supports her interpretation.
Well, I guess I can congratulate three of the male members of VV for effectively shutting up the female members on a whole lot of topics.
Well done, guys! You're a credit to the worst portion of your gender.![]()
Whoa.
I take back what I said earlier. You've now increased the list of the VV members for whom I have no respect or use to three.
No, it didn't hurt me. I'm not easily insulted though. My objection was more along the lines of not being willing to take criticism from someone who does the same, or even worse, than I do.Obviously, you are correct, even though I probably wouldn't accept the things you've said from a man either, but I probably wouldn't have seen and pointed it out as quickly or maybe it all.
And if that indeed hurt you, then I apologize, but I didn't want...
And it was stuff about hormones as well.
A boys brain will probably not be the same as a girls brain.
And as such, many schools will probably not accommodate their teachings for how boys develop, thus causing quite a bit of problems.
I like to base my opinions on facts, although I can't deny that I'm biased too.
I understand your general stance too, but I think your assumptions are a bit off now and then.
Sure, I get that you mean that a man will be valued more, but reality isn't always that pretty.
Those very males are often assumed to be meat-heads and idiots.
I think the nerd = intellectual thing is becoming less and less actual nowadays.
You are aware that there actually is quite a significant physical differences in that regard?
Nah, that particular case is because the assumption that an imprisoned woman will have disastrous results on the assumed family.
Or so I've read.

r.

But so are you.
I dont think it means people are assholes, it means that people have opinions and issues they cannot agree on. A lot of it is cultural conditioning, ie you can be chatting to someone from the same country who had a completely different upbringing from you and feel poles apart from them when talking about political issues.
I once dated a conservative and you would not believe the arguments we had. We had to agree to not talk about politics as it would just end up in shouting matches. But what we were discussing was important and I think things would be worse if people didnt discuss things, the bullies and dictators would take over the world in even worse ways because noone would question anything.
