TV & Film The TV Room

A new season of Project Runway starts tonight. I love seeing what they come up with (both the beautiful and hideous), especially the unconventional challenge. That one always amazes me with what they can make.

It's weird how much I like this show considering I have no interest in fashion, and my clothes reflect that. :P

Can't stop watching Netflix. So far I went through The Good Witch, Cedar Cove, Stranger Things, Hart of Dixie, Gilmore Girls, The Killing and now Switched at Birth.

The Doctor Who Gave Up Drugs review – a flawed and bitter pill to swallow | Television & radio | The Guardian

Very shocking stats in the show.
Painkiller prescriptions have increased by 25% over the last five years, despite research showing that such tablets only work around 50% of the time. Five million people in the UK are on antidepressants and their prescribed use among teens has increased by 50% over the past seven years.

I always think it's weird how much I love The Real Housewives shows as almost everything about their lifestyles like flashy cars, huge houses, glamorous clothes, jewellery and makeup, is the complete opposite to the way I live my life.:D

Well , in the 1980's, Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous was very popular with people financially hurt by the "trickle-down" crap pushed by the Reagan administration. Go figure.

Well, it's not like I'm jealous of them or anything. I don't choose to spend my money on that type of thing, I would find people like that very annoying if I knew them so I don't know why I find them so fascinating on screen.

I'm so happy Jerry didn't get rid of STARZ.... because beginning October 2nd are these awesome gems!! :jump:

I too like Project Runway. I like fashion with no obsession over it. This is still one of my all time favorite shows.

The new Riff Raff is hot, but that's not enough to make it watchable. The new Frank-N-Furter sucks. Tim Curry was slightly creepy (also hot) and crazy, and you didn't know what weird and crazy thing might happen. This person sounds silly and not believable, terrible acting.

I'm going to have to watch the original to purge my memory of this blasphemy. :sadnod:

eta: Just read the reviews on IMDB and they say similar things. Terrible acting, no emotion, just repeating lines.

Virginia McKenna's Born Free was an insightful slice of nostalgia on the rise of the conservation

"Virginia McKenna’s Born Free (Channel 4) was a documentary about a famous actress revisiting the role that came to define her in the public mind 50 years ago – that of the naturalist Joy Adamson in the hugely successful film Born Free. But what began as a slice of warm-hearted nostalgia transmuted into something more meaningful."

There is some unique footage of Elsa and Joy in this documentary. I was moved to tears as Virginia McKenna related on what happened to the lions and elephants once the film Born Free had been made.
