TV & Film The TV Room

I decided to give Breaking Bad a try since I found out I can download episodes to a tablet to watch later. It's not too bad but
when you binge watch you notice that it's same thing over and over again...Walt and Jesse make meth, something bad happens, they fight, they split up, they get back together to make meth, something bad happens, they fight.... over and over. Also, there don't seem to be any decent characters on the show except the kids. I get that you want to give characters flaws to make them seem more human but all of the adults are awful.

Whereabouts are you in the series? I saw it once through on TV, loved it, then recently binge-watched on DVD.... :D

I love Star Trek Discovery. I cannot wait for it to come back! The ending was so geeky, haha.

Michelle Yeoh is so gorgeous!:flirt: OMG, I just checked and she is 55, how is that possible?!

Okay, finished Breaking Bad and I am not impressed. The first season was okay but went downhill from there, eventually going to absurdity. The show is dark and depressing with nothing but terrible people doing terrible things the entire time. There are zero decent adult characters...zero. It's difficult to watch a show where are there no characters to root for because they are all awful.
And I get that there will be unrealistic allowances made to allow the show to continue but some are so glaringly ridiculous it's irritating, like
a multimillion dollar lab run by a man who doesn't trust anyone, especially the two he has working for him in the lab including one who is a meth addict, has cameras all over the place outside the lab, outside his house, at his legit business, and has men watching and following others all the time, yet he doesn't have a single camera in the lab? Come on.
as well as the last three season.

Maybe it was just more noticeable because I watched it all in less than a week, it was probably less obvious when it was originally spread out over 5 years.

Watching Frankie and Grace to wash the ugliness of BB out of my brain. Now that is what a great series looks like.

I've got half-off all rentals at a FV location I don't normally frequent, so I thought I'd watch some TV series (they're a bit pricier).... Started Mr. Robot tonight... only saw season one available at the store (did it last?).... then I think I'll start The Americans....

I’ve been hooked on Land Girls and Doc Martin. Now I’m watching Last Tango in Halifax. I hate when I’m done with a series and have to try and find something else that I will like.

My English friend who has since retired and moved out of the area has suggested Broadchurch, Happy Valley and the Crown. I will have to check them out.

I'm really diggin' Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.... it's got action, comedy, espionage, intrigue, cool sci-fi gadgets, and some strong X-Files-ish vibes as well.

If you like that kinda stuff, give it a whirl! Although, I should mention, so far there have been plenty of references to the first Marvel Avengers universe films (i.e. Avengers, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor)... so it wouldn't hurt to have watched those first.

There's also a definite soap opera-esque narrative running through, but I can forgive that because of all the other **** goin' on.... :p

I just hope I can finish watching season one before it's due on Friday... on disc 3 of 5.... there's 22 freaking episodes!! LOL

ETA: Stan Lee finally made his appearance! :D And Bill Paxton!! OMG, this was one of the last things he ever did & it's awesome to see him again! <3

I've been watching Renters (takes place in New Zealand) and Nightmare Tenants, Slum Landlords (Takes place in England, mostly in London), and I seem to have romanticized these places in my head. I was so disappointed to see how bad parts of them are. I always pictured them as classier and more upscale than the US, especially New Zealand. I know everywhere has good and bad parts, I just pictured them to be so much nicer.

Anyway, it was frustrating to watch how hard it is to get squatters and nonpaying tenants out in London. Some of the places that were being rented were pretty horrifying, but I've seen just as bad here. Those landlords should be in jail for taking advantage of poor people and renting filthy, dangerous places like that.
