Literature What are you currently reading?

The library notified me that book 6 in the Temeraire series was available so I picked it up yesterday and finished it today! Now maybe I will start the other series and reserve book 7.

I am almost halfway through the first book of "The Angel Experiment" series and I really don't know why it is banned. It is the story of a group of genetically altered children which is nothing new. I am thinking X-Men and several other stories. The kids were created in a lab and have wings and can fly. They had been rescued and escaped the "school" where they were one group of many experiments. Now one of them has been captured and returned to the school/lab and they are on a rescue mission to save her. Patterson is an excellent storyteller and it is really good.
It is my understanding that here in Florida, if even ONE parent complains about a book, it can be banned for everyone. :( I guess this is what happened here. This series has been around since 2005 and no one complained before. As I get further into the series, maybe something "offensive" will show up. Though I doubt it!

I just finished Survivor by Octavia Butler.
I had just read Kindred by her and was very impresed with the book. But it is her only book that was not part of her Patternist series.
After reading the book I looked it up and discovered that Butler did not like this book and disowned it and it was never re-printed.
I didn't think it was so bad.
I'm not sure what other Patternist books I have read by her. I have at least one other on my Kindle.

I have two books waiting for me at the library. If it ever stops raining I'll walk over and get them.

I'm reading the Paris Hilton autobiography at the moment. It is okay.

I bought 3 books from a charity shop yesterday. The Sanatorium - Sarah Pearse, My Thoughts Exactly - Lily Allen and Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine - Gail Honeyman.

Zahn is a great author. He pretty much is the Star Wars books guy

I'm not a Star Wars guy.
So I don't look for Zahn very often. In fact, if you go the Zs in the library the whole shelf is pretty much Star Wars.
But I've read quite a bit of Zahn's books.

I've read a few of the "Cobra" and "Black collar" series. I liked the first couple then not only my interest fell off but my library does have them all.

So I have heard. But this is my first book from him.

That' crazy. I checked and it's pretty much the same thing in my library. How come I haven't noticed this before? I have read all the Star Wars comic books that are in the library.
Thanks! This will be useful.
I read a short story about the Cobras when it was published in a Science Fiction magazine in a local college library- but I don't remember what mag it was. It was a long time ago. I've read a number of his Star Wars paperbacks, too- one of my nephews has a small collection of them.

I just read Never Go Broke: How to make money out of just about anything by Jesse McClure. I was thinking of selling some books and CDs on ebay and saw this book was on sale for 0.99 pence. He was saying that the old boomboxes sell very well these days. I don't have any at home as I got rid of them ages ago. 90's clothes sell well as they are now considered "vintage", that makes me feel old!

I just added some other books from Prime Reading to my kindle for free too.

I just finished What Price Victory/Worlds of Honor #7

It's an anthology of short stories by various authors. All taking place in the Honorverse. And each one takes place in a different location and time in the Honorverse. Honor only shows up on the last pages of one of the short stories.

I know I have read some of the other Worlds of Honor. but I may have missed a few. So I put all the ones the library has on hold and I'll try to figure out which ones I have read when they are in my hands.

Finished book 7 of the Temeraire series and have reserved both 8 and 9 to finish it. I have enjoyed this so much that I will miss it when I am done! I will read her other books too.
I think I felt that way when I finished the "Harry Potter" series. I read the published script for "The Accursed Child", the play which picks up roughly where "Deathly Hallows" ends, but didn't like it as much as the series.

then I read and watched the Fantastic Beast series. And then I read all of the Strike novels - also written by JK Rollins. Loved them all.
I'm such a fan boy

Since I had to wait for the Temeraire books, I read one of the James Patterson books that I had been given. It was co-authored with David Ellis and is one of the Billy Harney detective series. I had never read any of those. This one is "Escape" and it was an exciting thriller as all Mr. Patterson's books usually are. I enjoyed it.
The library emailed me today that my books are in, so I will pick them up tomorrow and go back into the world of dragons!

I read Wrong Place Wrong Time yesterday. I saw a Youtuber talking about it and I read it was picked by Reese Witherspoon's book club. I thought it was slow at first, but then it got much better. I have another one of her books to read called How to Disappear.
