TV & Film The TV Room

The family in the new show seemed very well off as they had a stunning kitchen and they seemed quite posh. They did change their ways in the end as they used to buy all branded food but they said some of the cheaper versions were just as nice. You have to tell me what you think if you see it.:D

What day of the week is the programmed aired ? It may be on one of the SKY repeat channels ?

We're rewatching The Walking Dead from the beginning. I had only got up to season 3 anyway so I'm excited to ind out what happens. I think it's hands down one of the best programmes ever - absolutely love it.

Also watching Sons Of Anarchy. :)

I saw it today as it was on BBC repeat. The kitchen was splendid indeed and the house is going to be elegant when they finish with the refurbishment.

As she is a stay at home mum, I'm amazed that they were buying so much processed and ready cooked meals with virtually no fresh vegetables. I was also shocked that she didn't know how to prepare vegetables.

On the whole the team really only end up swopping the top brand stuff for the basic brands. They give very little information on how to cook homemade meals.
The meal that they prepared for the diner party was really very easy to make which proves that many people are
willing to pay the extra money for ready prepared meals.

Having said that, I really miss Waitrose and am dying to pop in when I come over to the UK. British supermarkets are really so attractive and they really know how to make food look so appealing.

I saw a trailer for Fortitude and thought that looked interesting. I read a few reviews and people said that they were waiting to see what they thought as it's meant to be a slow burner.

I tried watching Doc Martin, but couldn't get into it.

Watched the first (and only) season of Emily Owens M.D. and I really liked it. I need to stop watching shows that only have one season and end on a cliffhanger.

Watching Mad Men. At least this show has more than one season. Hopefully, it'll be good enough to watch all of them.

I've been watching the first two episodes of The Civil War. Jen recorded it when it aired a while ago.

It's interesting because it's a major war that happened in modern times, mainly between people of European ancestry, and yet I think us Europeans don't hear about it so much.

That's interesting, because here in the US, it's one of the most talked about and studied of the wars that Americans fought. Perhaps it's because we're still experiencing and even fighting some of the conditions that led to the war; i.e. States' Rights and the treatment of black people in this country.

Also, a lot of people don't know this, but England sided with the Confederacy during the war. That's probably something that English history buffs are too embarrassed to talk about, considering the side England supported was the losing side.

I don't think that is true. Britain was officially neutral, although the Confederacy purchased several warships from commercial shipbuilders in Britain. Public opinion at the time sided with the Union especially because of the slavery issue.

Still watching Mad Men, it takes awhile to get through 6 seasons. I think you get more involved watching them one after another instead of once a week. I feel like I'm reliving history, it's up the Kennedy assassination. Very sad.

Eat Well for Less. I really enjoyed the programme and the lovely family from Maidstone.

They had a huge weekly bill for groceries and were throwing away lots of fresh produce. I certainly would like to have them for my next door neighbours !

However, the boys gave them a few handy tips on how to buy food that is not already packaged and to freeze leftovers.
