Physical Exercise Yoga

found a wonderful Indian Buddist Yoga Centre Ananda Kutir Ashrama just around the corner from my house, my brother in law told me about it. they focus on the pure Hatha Yoga and traditions of yoga, spirituality and meditation.

did my first class last night and it was amazing. loved the calm surrounding and the teachers are so calm and peaceful.

i found the beginners class similiar to the power yoga dvd i have been doing and so some of the stretching felt great.

also did some new postures.

def going back tonight at 5:30 for another class.

They have a class every week and its very reasonable.

Better option for me now that I can't get up in the mornings anymore.

Ledboots, how are you getting on with the 30 days? :)
I haven't missed a day, and I feel fantastic. I lost my best friend Pepper, and really thanks to this daily yoga and upping my usual daily meditation, I am getting through it. Plus my friends got a room on the beach last night. Night yoga on the beach drew a crowd, lol. People were joining in. Drunken night yoga

*Hugs* I'm so sorry about your friend. I'm glad yoga has been a help you! Well done for sticking at it so well! You're really inspiring.

I've done about 23/24 days but had trouble since last week doing anything. I feel good about what I have done though and I feel like it really did make a positive difference to my life. I'm calling it quits for the challenge for now but I do feel like yoga has become a habit for me and I'll keep it up regularly. I plan to do another 30 day challenge before the summer is over and this time I'll do the whole thing! :)

That's great, you did well! I feel good and hope to keep yoga up daily from now on. I already meditate every day, so it was kind of easy for me to add the yoga.

Pepper was my sweet old dachshund who gave up the fight on Thursday. :(No more pets for me, the loss is too hard. I'm glad I was in the yoga challenge, for sure.

went to the Retreat Centre again last night, so nice to learn traditional hatha yoga and meditation, just something very spiritual about the journey. I love it. Did Frog and Downward Dog into Forward Dog. Amazing! Arms getting stronger.

I felt pretty nauseaus afterwards but also have a bit of head cold so body probably fighting to stay strong.

NAMASTE.

I am so sorry to hear about Pepper :( they are our little furry kids.

Glad yoga is there to guide and help you with this loss.

Sure another little "kid" will crawl into your heart, maybe not now, but sometime in the future.

Big hugs

i have a head cold at the moment, most annoying is sore throat.

should i attend yoga class? should i rest?
Do you have a fever? If so, you should stay home, also if you think you'll be sneezing or coughing a lot. Otherwise, just drink extra fluids and if you attend class, take it easy, don't push yourself. I hope you feel better! :)

i am not coughing alot, no fever. Just getting congested.

i found out yesterday my dads cancer is back. we are all very worried.

really think should go to yoga this evening.

this year is really testing my limits.

Aw hun, you really can't catch a break this year *hugs*

I just tried a terrible DVD by Patricia Walden. I had to switch it off, lost patience, no yoga for me this evening.

I did yoga twice this week instead of once. I was planning to go again today but wasn't feeling up to it. There were some girls meeting up for hot yoga and I don't think hot yoga is a good idea for me, not when it's already humid.

I love all yoga except hot, though it was hot on the beach when we did a class, but with a nice breeze anyway.

Quick summary of the talk: "Yoga" is really an English word, the Indian word is "yog". He emphasised the importance of breathing, and yoga breathing exercises as the most important part of yoga. So even if your health is so crap that you can't do any other exercises, you can (probably!) do breathing exercises. The best time for yoga practice is early in the morning and late in the evening, he said. He wanted to talk about yoga as a science, although I don't think he was successful in separating it completely from the religious aspects. He scrolled though some web pages on a site dedicated to a popular Indian yogi called Swami Ramdev. He also talked about how he'd been diagnosed with muscular dystrophy and how yoga (together with conventional western medicine) had helped him improve his health. Usually people diagnosed with the disease only have 5 years to live on average, he said, but here he was 9 years later, standing up on his own two feet for a whole hour giving this talk. He recommended yoga (along with conventional medicine) for people suffering from serious illnesses, including cancer.

The talk ended by demonstrations of a few basic breathing exercises.
